Playing a game on this site, I recently began to wonder, is it all worth it? I mean, are video games, and Flash games really worth our time? Granted, video games are a form of entertainment, no different than movies or television, but video games are starting to become more time consuming than any other form of entertainment. People are starting to become addicted and spend all their time playing video games.
Iâm certainly not one to speak. I wouldnât want to try to count all the hours Iâve spent playing on Armor Games. But in the end, is it all worth it? Is there anyone here who will be on their deathbed thinking âI wish I played more video games during my life?â
What if we took all the time we spent playing video games and did something else? Like spending time with our family, or friends, or taking our dog for a walk, or helping an old lady across the street? What if we started volunteering our time to help others instead of play video games? Wouldnât the world be a better place?
When it comes down to it, anything we do on this website is nothing but a bunch of 1âs and 0âs, just electronic data that at the end of the day doesnât mean anything. Iâm thinking about deleting my Armor Games account for this exact reason, because I feel like my time could be better spent. But Iâm also curious to hear what you have to say. What do you think?
Yes, the forums can be a center of stupid and dangerous conversation. That is why there are moderators roaming around with their banhammers and their magical abilities.
Oh look!!A leprechaun on the site, he's coming on this evil topic on his rainbow to drive us out of the forum!Wait..it's not a leprechaun!it's a moderator!NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I actually was thinking about this a couple days ago.
Recently my eyes have been opened to the wonders of books and intelligent reading. I never read much until recently. In fact, I just started a book on Einsteins theory of relativity, There are so many things I've wanted to learn about, but video games, T.V, and the internet have been getting in my way and hindering the development of my intellect.
When you play games or watch tv, what are you accomplishing? Nothing. But when you spend your time reading and going out and experiencing things, you can learn to do things you never imagined you could.
Ya video games are fun, and they are entertaining. Hey, what else would you be doing with your time right? You have one life, so might as well make it fun and entertaining.
Video games are fun but I think that out of anything spending time with others, and learning new things are the two things that no one would ever regret. There is nothing more satisfying, i think, than to have a good time with others, make friends, comfort others, and learn new things.
Capitalism is highly evident here...AP for writing an opinion? It is a system, unless involving banishment and an authoritarian Moderation team, that is prone to fail under the phenomenon of people writing random things down known otherwise as spam! Flaming is also a result of this, if you encourage people to go write things down they'll interact with other people who are perhaps less mature.
How can AG possibly be more morally wrong than anything else people do? You're saying that AG might be morally wrong on the grounds that videogames are becoming increasingly addicting. But your statement is biased, because you're only viewing the situation from a black-and-white perspective.
Take for instance, the Pope. If the Pope is addicted to reading the Bible, and spends 10-12 hours a day doing so, how is that any different than one who plays videogames all day, or plays football all day? Everyone in the world has an addiction of sort, and it's these addictions which help to define a person.
A 13 year old boy who spends all of his time on World of Warcraft is no different from a 13 year old girl who spends all of her time reading Stephen King novels. While the specifics may differ greatly, both still love being immersed in fantasy worlds and it gives both of them something to talk about with other people who share the same interests.
What I'm saying is that you shouldn't knock someone for playing too much videogames, because it's a harmless addiction. If a person was torturing people horribly in his/her basement as an addiction, it'd be another story, because that's actually harmful to people.
Let me ask you a simple question. What does it matter. Someone is born, something happens in their life, then they die. It is, the big picture, you might say.
Or cockroaches, or mice, or one of my old neighbors-- oh, sorry, I'm thinking out loud XD
Nothing is wrong with AG. Just because someone spends 10 hours or 1 as long as they don't completely destroy their lives getting to that point it's fine.
This thread is a bit ridiculous actually. If AG is morally wrong half the things in the world are. (Well, that's true if you judge it by Christianity...but I'm not xP)
AG isn't any worse than television. If it causes a person to ruin their life it's their own fault, not ours or AG's.
