Playing a game on this site, I recently began to wonder, is it all worth it? I mean, are video games, and Flash games really worth our time? Granted, video games are a form of entertainment, no different than movies or television, but video games are starting to become more time consuming than any other form of entertainment. People are starting to become addicted and spend all their time playing video games.
Iâm certainly not one to speak. I wouldnât want to try to count all the hours Iâve spent playing on Armor Games. But in the end, is it all worth it? Is there anyone here who will be on their deathbed thinking âI wish I played more video games during my life?â
What if we took all the time we spent playing video games and did something else? Like spending time with our family, or friends, or taking our dog for a walk, or helping an old lady across the street? What if we started volunteering our time to help others instead of play video games? Wouldnât the world be a better place?
When it comes down to it, anything we do on this website is nothing but a bunch of 1âs and 0âs, just electronic data that at the end of the day doesnât mean anything. Iâm thinking about deleting my Armor Games account for this exact reason, because I feel like my time could be better spent. But Iâm also curious to hear what you have to say. What do you think?
If AG is morally wrong half the things in the world are.
You can think of everything you do a big waste of time really. But as long as you have fun or contribute to society in some way it's really worth it.
I personally spend waay to long AG epecially last summer (I thought of AG all the time O_O). But now I focus on creating things like drawing/programming.
Nothing is wrong with AG. Just because someone spends 10 hours or 1 as long as they don't completely destroy their lives getting to that point it's fine.
I don't think you can destroy your life on AG your constatly learning and making friends. You wouldn't be able to spend your whole life on AG anyway. Everyone will leave AG one day
I do think that I have played to many games but what you said at first, like walk a dog spend time with family, ect. Its true we should do that but sometimes there is nothing to do and you are bored to death so what do you do then?
How can AG possibly be more morally wrong than anything else people do? You're saying that AG might be morally wrong on the grounds that videogames are becoming increasingly addicting. But your statement is biased, because you're only viewing the situation from a black-and-white perspective.
Are SADD and MADD bad?
Take for instance, the Pope. If the Pope is addicted to reading the Bible, and spends 10-12 hours a day doing so, how is that any different than one who plays videogames all day, or plays football all day? Everyone in the world has an addiction of sort, and it's these addictions which help to define a person.
You tackle healthy specifically addictions but not the destructive ones such as drinking and smoking. I'm sure that you're not trying to oversimplify anything.
A 13 year old boy who spends all of his time on World of Warcraft is no different from a 13 year old girl who spends all of her time reading Stephen King novels. While the specifics may differ greatly, both still love being immersed in fantasy worlds and it gives both of them something to talk about with other people who share the same interests.
Actually, the effects of starring at a screen and starring into the pages of a book are totally different. A thirteen year old who spends most of his time playing world of Warcraft will see his grades stagnate as the 13 year old who reads books all the time becomes more proficient in reading and writing.
What I'm saying is that you shouldn't knock someone for playing too much videogames, because it's a harmless addiction. If a person was torturing people horribly in his/her basement as an addiction, it'd be another story, because that's actually harmful to people.

if you have seizures from playing video games you shouldn't be playing them in the first place. For most people the most it will do is drain your social life, while possibly gaining a few pounds. Moderation = the key.
Anyway, we shouldn't really discuss video games here. AG has flash games, which are generally less addictive than console games. AG could even be good for someone if they hang out in the forums and are able to learn things. Or at least open their eyes to other points of view.
thats a pretty good theory you have there, i think however it is a way to dream and imagine things. game devs only express their creativity just like a director, poetist, writher and so on. games are just a new way to express it and it fits in our modern technology

He has a point. They express themselves through making games, just like an artist would express himself by painting or drawing something. The only bad thing is that unlike looking at a painting, playing a video game can be highly addictive. Especially if it is enough like real life. I know that I enjoy open world games more than closed world mostly because you can do things that you can't do in real life and you're not restricted. Sort of like in Grand Theft Auto. I would never steal a car in real life, but it's fun to do in the game, and that makes it fairly addictive. Not having to follow laws is fun.
By the way...3,000th post =D *balloons and blue confetti and such* Why blue? Because I think of the 3,000th post as a very blue, sparkly occasion.

While I don't agree with the bible, it does give moral lessons not found in most(if any) video games.

most of us have to disagree with you. im on so much because i have nothing else to do during the summer, i dont have my license yet so i cant go anywhere, the only time i really do anything is my job, which doesnt take that much of my time.
AG and flash games are not morally wrong, i see where u are comming from, but the person who plays the game chooses, if he wants to waste his life away playing games, or just play for a little while, its all about the player knowing when to stop, video games are just a form of entertainment that is abused.
