PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING

Now you're probably opening this thinking "oh great another rant on religion", well you're right. But please keep reading on because what I have to say is important and applies to all beliefs, even if you don't have one.

Many religions now believe the world is going to end, soon. Basically they believe this because of "signs" and their precious magic books. Well the scary thing is the world could end soon, and religion could actually be its cause. The fact is, for the world to live on religion must die. Faith is nothing to brag about it, and people who accept faith, or preach it are just intellectual slaveholders. Religion has caused so much craziness and destruction and I think 9/11 is a great example, however I won't get into it much because of everything else I have to say.

Now, why is religion so powerful? Because it allows people who DON'T have the answer to what happens when we die to think they do. If you're a christian or any other religion you may think it's great to say "PLEASE GOD I'M WILLING! I'LL DO ANYTHING YOU ASK OF ME!" Well guess what, there are no gods talking to us so that void is filled in by corrupt and often hostile people.

This is why anti-religious rationalists must come out of the freakin closet and let themselves be heard. And for those of you who only consider yourselves "a little religious", is the safe feeling of believing in a religion worth the pain and destruction it causes? If you belonged to a social group that wasn't a religion that involved so much bigotry, homophobia, violence, and ignorance as religions you would quit the club and protest against it. And if the end of the world comes because of nuclear arms led by religious nut jobs... just remember what the true problem was. We found a way to end lives on a mass scale before we stopped wishing for it.

George W. Bush often said his goal was to spread democracy in Iraq. Why? He said that's what he knew that's what God wanted. He said it was a war between Good and Evil. Aka Christian nation vs non Christians.

His religion was a personal thing and could not be said for all of the soldiers. And America is not exactly a "Christian Nation".

yes. But he used his religion (Christianity) as a fuel for war. Hence Religious War. And America isn't a Christian nation? You pretty much HAVE to be a Christian to be elected for any office governor or higher. Senator or higher. And supreme judges. Most of the population is Christian. Every president has been Christian.

America was not intended to be a Christian nation, says our founding fathers. However we have become one.

Lol I don't think that's what the OP was about :P

It was just pointing out that what the religions think of how the world could end soon could become true BECAUSE of religion.

About two-thirds of America is Christain, one-third of which are strong christians. And atheism is increasing. Most people in the Senate are Christian because their religion boosts their hope.

Have you ever heard of Christianity or Buddhists or Jews and many other religions?

I'd keep Christianity off that list.

None of that proves that there is no god. And the holy war stuff doesn't really apply to Christianity, we haven't had holy wars for like 400 years.

I don't think proving or disproving god existence was the point of the OP, so this might be a bit off topic. Seeing as those in a religion are the ones making the claim of existence it is up to you to provide reasonable evidence for such a things existence.

To retread on one of my favorite examples. If I told you there was an invisible flying elephant and you didn't believe me. Is it up to you to disprove the existence of such a thing, or is it up to me to provide hard evidence for such a things existence?

Your right America was not founded to be a Christian nation it was meant to be a freedom from religion that includes a freedom of religion. Unfortunately this value is slowly being lost.

On the part of his religion was a personal thing. This doesn't matter if the soldiers agreed or not. It's not there place to. If a soldier is ordered by there commander to go kill somebody they do it, regardless of the reasons behind the order.

Well, since people have immigrated here, we've had more and more religions. I'd say the ratio of Christians to Other Religions has stayed the same over the past 250 years, if not decreased.

And the Iraq War was for freedom. It was the right thing to do for a Christian person, but it should be the right thing to do for anybody.

Lol.

The Iraq war was for democracy, like you said. For Iraq. It did nothing for us. We killed Civilians and our own troops and gained no safety for ourselves. How is it right to kill and be killed for nothing again?

I agree with you on everything except that you said the Iraq War was for democracy. The Iraq war was for oil. They figured it would be a lot cheaper to tell Americans that they were fighting for democracy and freedom, and send them off to steal oil from the middle East, rather than to do the expensive plan which involved, buying their oil or investing in alternative energy.
