80 million would be more then half the Soviet Union's population. I hope you can see how that makes no logical sense right?

Stalin was a helpful guy as well as a killer. He revolutionized Russia, and he:

made it a more industrial country.

Hitler grabbed Germany in the deep shit the '29 american economical crisis threw it and pulled it out.
Before him you could go grocery shopping with a million of Marks, after him Germany was again an economical powerhouse.

I think Stalin=worse /and/or equal to in evil than Hitler, but in economy, Hitler wins. I read a statistic somewhere about how, like, the 2-10% (I don;t know exact #, was around there)of privately owned farmed (NOT GOVERNMENT OWNED) produced somewhere from 20-40 percent of the total Russian food market. I not sure if source is credible though, think it is. Morally, I don't think some of the things that happened between 1917 and 19maybe-67 should EVER be talked about. Didn't many people starve to death around 1920's-30's? Didn't Stalin have mass decimations in his military (and, if massive deaths in military, then what about general populace, who usually get the majority of everything that happens) Ah, nevermind, half this stuff I read is from PIG guides I haven't read for a year or 3.

It's hard to determine the exact number that Stalin ordered killed. You have to take into account the expected population vs. real population. WWII also left 27 million Russians dead and probably stopped many people from having babies.

The generally accepted number is 20 million for Stalin. The credible sources go as low as 10 million and as high as 35 million. Obviously there are extremist pro-Stalin sources that say 1 million (and were all justified) and other extremist (anti-Stalin) sources that say 80 million. I tend to use 20 million.
