Allow this historian to remedy your ignorance of WWII. It is true that the Japanese culture is heavily embedded with honour, however, due to the terms of the WWII peace treaty, Japan is restricted from forming any thing resembling an army. They have a small defensive force that is meant for peace keeping, but that's all. In fact Japan relies on America to provide the bulk of it's armed might. Japan and America are very close diplomatically and are steadfast allies. Why? Well America helped rebuild Japan after the war.
