So, since my last competition was pretty much a discussion, I'll now close that and move over to this general colony discussion (the others are all specific)
TALK ABOUT ANYTHING RELATED TO COLONY (and beef burgers)
Hey guys, I just met someone with alzheimer's disease. He's really good at colony, yet, it's so strange. He doesn't remember if i've played with him about 2 minutes ago or not. He just knows that if i know he has alzheimer's i must know him. The weird thing is, he remembers hotkeys and units and such (like sakatas counter air) and what strategies are good, but he doesn't remember using them. I was talking to him and i said, "You remember i just played with you right?" he says, "I do? Well if i did, i bet i went air, i love air." i say, "Eh, you went missiles." he says "What? Really, missiles are so bad. I hope i didn't lose the game for you." i say, "No... 1 minute ago i said that you won the game for me." He says, "Well missiles are really strong."
Must be hard for an alzheimer's to remember such things. I talked to him and he told me what it felt like to have it and what happens to his memories. His words were, "Well, it's like a daydream, if i keep dreaming and thinking about it, i'll remember it. But if i start to think about something else, it fades away." He got alzheimer's 2 years ago, he's 23 and dropped out of school at 21. I asked him if he knew a lot of math, he said yea, but if the problem's too long, he'll sometimes forget where he is and has to start over. Must be hard to have memory loss. He'll live on. I don't resent him, pity him, or take praise in him. I just think that he is a brave man living with it (he remembers he has it and knows when), and we should respect him.
Alzheimer's is a memory loss disease that becomes more common as you get older...
It is probably the cruelest disease out there. Could you imagine forgetting your friends and family, and in severe cases you forget how to eat! Don't really know why that guy would spend his time on Colony to be honest, but more power to him.
No that guy, when you get alzheimer's, i believe that after a period of time you can't remember from then on events. Like if you get alzheimer's you might remember when you got it (but after a period of time, you'll forget what's going to happen) because the memory is stored, but the disease might disrupt it and stop you from remembering. He probably won't remember who i am if i talked to him today, but if i say he has alzheimer's he'll know that i've met him before.
