A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Yay, I won something

How would I go about claiming this merit?

You cannot hold this beauty

Freakenstein's Haiku:

Look... at how it twirls!
Feel... how it dances inside
Listen...the flame shrills!

Sputter. Cough. Leap. Flare.
Source of the just and wicked

Throwing off warm sparks,
Dazzling the sky above,
This is my life line.

Engulfed in flames,

That would be four lines.

Red, hot flames of war
Licking the cold, humid air
The battle heats up

You mean syllables? And yeah, for some reason I accidentally added a syllable, probably through the 'ed' in engulfed. Or it might be from last minute revisions of dropping a word? It was probably a culmination of both of those. Either way, It's wrong and needs to be fixed. Fixed version:

Intense flames engulf.
Devouring everything,
Raging inferno.

The imagery was quite nice. Well done.

Thank You

Haiku:

Roaring and crackling
casting shadows, flinging sparks
logs burning, smoke drifts

Much thanks Orion, my PS3 has been consuming my life recently. By the power vested in me, I call forth HAIKU JUDGE AUDITIONS. Just post on my profile, telling me why you think you should be the new judge. If you want, you can also post you best haiku. (Increases your chances.) Whoever is the judge for this round can still be judge.

Once again, thanks Orion and sorry crowd.

Since no one actually wanted besides Orion, I have pretty much assigned him as the judge since "other people" seemingly had forgotten about this. But up to you guys > >

I was more or less intending to be permanent.

Besides, Bronze obviously liked my judging, and expected me for further judging.

We may find the perceptions of fire in more places than one.

A careless ember
As the smoke goes up and up
An autumn leaf falls
