A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

I don't like other poetry though D: I'm only good at Haikus.

Write haikus for the poetry contest. Usually there is a theme, not a poem-type requirement (though there seem to be this time). You will at least have to wait for a while. No one is really stopping you from making haikus and putting them in a thread.

Hey, I just said entries were closed on Friday. I said nothing of judging. And Cenere, despite what you may think, I am truly thankful for keeping this thread in order. I had church and play rehearsal today.

Wow... This thread is really picking up steam.

Let me start with all the DOH!'s. (Too many or too little syllables)

Armpit!

Snow is no object
As no snow knows no limits
And snow's nose so cold

Last line is 6 syllables.

jdoggparty!

Snowballs are thrown high
The kids have a war, then
Inside for cocoa

A good haiku, soiled by a six-syllable middle line.

It's ok, no context clues really. And please don't relate poptarts to death.

The white crunchy snow
Falls hard to the soft, soft ground
Snowing people in

Not all snow is crunchy, not all ground is soft.

Raging winds blind me
My feet firmly on the ground
Or are they? Oh Snap!

Shnap! We all get that feeling. Describes a snow storm very well.

This white wonder reeks of death
Everything turns black

All this snow up there
Backing up cars everywhere
What a site to see.

The rhyming gives it flow. Nice.

2nd place...

Ernie15!

Whoosh! A frozen breeze
Soft and powdery goodness
Falling from the sky

Great description. I could tell what it was even if I didn't know what the theme was.

And here he is... the Jack Frost of Haikus...

KYOUZOU!

Breathtaking beauty
Earth's unblemished purity
Disguising all flaws

It's so beautiful. Especially that last line. Be sure to see a mod for your merit.

As for the rest of you...

HAPPY HAIKUING!
