A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Carbon, oxygen,
Periodic elements,
No 'al-' in 'chemist'

I wasn't sure about the syllables in 'eriodic', I guessed it was pe-ri-o-dic; please correct me if I'm wrong so that I can adapt the haiku...

Oh wow i won?! REALLY?!?! I actually had to do some research to make sure Trumpets existed back during the middle ages, luckily they did but the trumpets had no keys, and were more like the bugles nowadays.

Heres a quick haiku just because I want to:

Master of all four
Frozen for 100 years
While a War goes on

I'm sorry for that everyone, (if you understand the reference)

I'm not sure if that was directed at me, but yeah, that theme was off the top of my head and is also broad enough to have great variety. I definitely have something much more original after this one, trust me :P

Water, to put out fire,
Fire, to burn the lands of earth,
Earth, to give us air.

Didn't realize it was 7-7-5 so...

Elements, of life.
Going through us everyday.

Your other one could be

Water, to put out
Fire, to burn the lands of
Earth, to give us air

5-8-5. :/

Go-ing through us ev-ry-day is 7 syllables if I'm correct.

Anyway, my entry is

Ravaging the land(...s?)
Fire, water, earth and wind.
However, is love?

And the more lulzy ending is "hey, let's screw science" XD

Hehe, I really don't know if I am doing syllables right, it just depends on your pronunciation of the word, I guess.

I thought fire was one syllable, but apparently it's not.
