A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

He was, Mercury was the messenger of the Roman gods.

They were essentially the same thing since the Romans imported almost the entire pantheon of Greek Gods. Jupiter = Zeus, Neptune = Poseidon etc etc

All other poems have to be in by tomorrow. I will definitely not be able to judge on Thanksgiving, as I am going to the parade in the morning, and most likely hanging with my family that night. Hopefully by the 25th. If not, over the weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My laptop decides to be funny yesterday and restart for updates, just when I was almost done. Here we go again.

WELCOME TO THE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR!

Wait... Wrong speech...

WELCOME TO THE JUDGING FOR THIS ROUND'S THEME: CHASING THE WIND!

16 HAVE ENTERED, 5 WILL PLACE, BUT ONLY ONE WILL BE CROWNED THE WINNER FOR THE MERIT!

I LIKE TALKING IN CAPS LOCK BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL IMPORTANT!

*clears throat* Anywho, here is the results:

_____________________________________________________________________

5th Place: Freakenstein

Breathing among clouds,
Life rides the passage of time
searching for purpose

The wording made this haiku placement worthy. The originality of the concept grabbed me. I very much liked it, Frank. Nice job.

4th Place: Neef

Running after wind;
when it leads you to an end,
turn and run again

The emotion given was really good. It wasn't too much of cliche and simple, which I like. I liked this one very much. Keep it up!

3rd Place: MagicTree

Fly, high as I can,
Soaring above the great clouds,
Looming 'bove the world

You continue to impress me. I can picture the story of the poem so well. The concept was original, and absolutely amazing. Well done.

2nd Place: jeol

Imagination
Of a child, chasing dragons,
Chasing the wild winds

The wording of this haiku was awesome, bro. I love the story of the mind of a young child imagining wonders from the outside to his own world. I loved it!

1st Place Merit Winner: DrElmer

Gracefully soaring
Chasing the ever-soft breeze
Together, we fly

Congrats! I loved this one! My favorite! Your imagination has entered in the poem. The concept was so touching. Contact a mod for your merit. YAAY!

Alright. I'm listening to Dropkick Murphys right now, and I got a theme for this week. The Battle Begins. Heh? Heh? Yeah. Due date is December 5th. Good luck!

Disturbing our peaceful land;
We become enraged.

Both your second and third line have six syllables when it should be seven five.
