A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Dun dun dun dun!

Hey guys. Let's get the judging rolling. No long pep talk for now.

If you didn't place, blah blah, message me with poem, blah blah.

Snowing of the Angels was the theme with a total of 14 poems altogether.

Okay, pre-judging unofficial news. I had a brainstorm about a monstrous contest mixed in with the 10 Day competition. I'll tell you when the news is officially agreed on. Just wait...

Okay. Let's go.

I'm making the line bold this time. Teehee.

Softly descending,
They blanket the earth below:
Many become one.

I liked this one because it made sense. I saw the picture well, and the fact of you explaining the snow as real people joining as one. Nice.

4th Place: Seashark001

They fall from above
Singing their sweet song of joy
As they come to us.

My favorite was the second line. I like the image you've captured and put it beautifully into words. Yaaaaaaay. Keep it up.

3rd Place: Alexistigerspice

Like snowflakes they fall
Landing on rosy cheeks, and
Bless us with a kiss.

I liked the way you twisted the theme. It was quite nice. I hope you keep up the good work! It'll be worth it someday!

2nd Place: daleks

Coming from above,
Beautiful beings with snow,
Making this world white

I really liked this one. The flow was great, the wording was great, cake is great... um.... Good! Moving on...

1st Place Merit Winner: nichodemus

Pale and white she sobs,
Bittersweet an angel weeps,
Cradled in my arms.

I loved it. The flow and wording was absolutely merit worthy. Congrats. MERIT! Contact a mod. (:

Well, that's done. Congrats to the ones who placed, and good job to everyone else!

This week's theme is my favorite Christmas song, A Wonderful Christmas Time, by Paul McCartney. It's cliche, but again, what isn't cliche about Christmas?

Okay. Due January 5th. Reason being is the same reason of Thanksgiving. Friends, family, celebrations, yadda yadda yadda.

Merry Christmas and good luck to all!

You might want to extend it, since people are on holiday during the Festive period. Thinking of extending the poetry deadline already.

Children lay asleep,
underneath an old man creeps,
laying gifts for them all.

hehe that sounds creepy. Hate to say it but your last line is one syllable too long.

Alright fine.

I will extend the due date to the 10th of January. I'll also be gone from the 5th-8th, so that'll be good. (:

Quietly sipping,
A chilled beer from Belgium,
Tropical Christmas.
