A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Oh dear... Maybe I should have explained what my haiku meant. I acted out Cain and Abel's little "event" and Cain's jealousy towards Abel.

Oh God! The bible!
Haha, I must look quite stupid now right. I can understand why I didn't get it though, even though I can admittedly qualify the bible to be a fruitful read, I'm not a believer so I tend to forget about it.
I know the story of course, it's just not something I expect to relate to in my everyday life/duty of judge.

I'm sorry. Given the circumstances though, your Haiku's a pretty good one!

Autumn eh? I sense a lot of good haiku's for this one!
Well here's my entries (following my usually pattern)
Official Entry
autumn winds blow cold
leafs chasing summer away,
winter runs behind.
Unofficial Entry
Help i am so cold
I barely can grip this tree
shivering, i fall.

i actually had about 6 Haiku's i just came up with, i contested my self and came down to my "top 2". haha i almost eagerly posted them all, but did not want to deter anyone from posting an entry with a similar pattern. Anyways, i was trying something a little new for me this week by attempting to give my haiku's somewhat of a personality, i'm sure i need to work on it more.

Colors are changing
This time marks transition
From life unto death

A bit morose it seems, but I was alluding to the death, not only that many plants go through at the turning of seasons, but of beloved summer. Autumn, to me, is a finality. It's the end of growth and the harbinger of solitude, death, and hiding. It is also the most beautiful season in my opinion, and I look forward to it every year.

Congratz wolf. Great job.

Nice Haiku.

Thanks

So I guess the theme is Ostriches judging by the title? Oh, Autumn my mom said. Well, I'll be posting one soon because I'm busy with schoolwork at the moment!

Simultaneous,
Cried, 'Can't you see we're dying?'
As gold cascaded.

Personification of trees for the win!

I'm tired..

But Jezz, the trees aren't dieing--they're only sleeping! That's what my mum said....

I'm tired..

Perhaps when we get a flat Earth again, we can have the same time zones. Thatd be shweet.

The treesies are in despair because they think they're dying, when we know they're just shedding their leaves and 'sleeping'. I suppose its dramatic irony of sorts. Its rather like when you leave a dog alone in the garden while you go out for the day, it (supposedly) believes you've left it for good each and every time. Each and every time autumn comes around, the trees believe they're dying, poor things!

Even better. Let's develop technology that allows us to move the tectonic plates. We can recreate Pangea and all be in the same time zone that way! Oh, and we'd only have one ocean then, that'd be sweet XD

Here we go.

The light shone on them.
Their special colors coming,
So vibrant and bright.

I hope you enjoy it, because I didn't.

Prepare for the cold
Say farewell to easy life
And hope you'll survive

An ode to the life of our ancestors, when winter wasn't snow sports and fun, but harsh cold and sparse food. I thought there are or will be enough Haikus about the wonderful colours and ambience of autumn..
