A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.
Well, that said, heres the rules:
1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)! 2) It must fit the weeks theme 3) It must be submitted before the deadline 4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written) 5) One Submission per user 6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)
Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...
The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond
On a side note: Pyre, Sire, Ire, Lyre, and Tire are all also only one syllable. Crier and Liar are each two syllables. If you are thinking of Fire like Liar instead of like Lyre, then therein lay the confusion.
There is an incredibly small difference between Lyre [lahyuhr] (one syllable) and Liar [lahy-er] (two syllables). No matter how much those two words sound alike when spoken casually, they are, in fact, composed of different phonemes with different origins. Honestly, this is one of those strange, but interesting, linguisting phenomenons (pun intended) that comes about in English because of its hodgpodge origins.

So, it sounds like Matrix and I are pretty lazy with our English.
I'll live. That happens when you're a bloody Aussie ;D
The one that I like the most so far since this theme started would have to be RayOfLight's haiku. He likes mine too. We usually chat about poetry on a different site and we decided to enter this contest.
