A Haiku is a Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Well, that said, heres the rules:

1) The Haiku must be original (no plagarizing)!
2) It must fit the weeks theme
3) It must be submitted before the deadline
4) It must be submitted for the contest (no using works previously written)
5) One Submission per user
6) The Same User cannot win twice in a row (but there welcome to submit!)

Hopefully oneday the winner could get a merit...

The Deadline will always be a Wednsday, so the deadline for the first theme will be Wednsday, September 2. The theme is The Pond

Im not religious, but here goes:

Up on a cross, dead.
Blood in holes on hands, feet, head.
Now he is rising

BT dubs Acmed, if that guy wasnt religious towards that subject, then u have no right to disqualify his haiku. It was about someone rising from the dead, maybe not Jesus, but someone. And if youre not smart enough to know what a bigot is (which i do) im gonna dumb it down for you. A bigot is a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions or prejudices. Also i know that u wont pick my haiku because of what i just wrote, but that just makes you more of a big a,ss bigot. Heres another word for u to look up dumba,ss [url=http://obstinate]

That might have been a dumb comment. I hope youll accept a formal apology. I am sorry for that gratuitous comment.

Any questions on the haiku contest, talk to Mav, not me.

I think I was just thrown under the bus.

You need to make a haiku that falls under the current round's topic.

Great wording murasaki! I like the scene you picture, like a bird's first flight. It's beautiful, great job!

OMG, Acmed! I placed! I actually placed. Thank you. I'll have to try harder this time.

TopRank, I applaud you for this second comment. It takes courage to stand up and say you might be wrong. Good Luck!

Here's my poem:
Sunset is like blood
The Sunrise is victory
Yea, He lives again

Ay ay ay...

I don't give a crap if it's religious or not. Thank you for freakin explaining it to me.

I'm not a freakin bigot or whatever, I was wrong. Sorry.

Your poem will count, but the next time you insult me and the way I judge, you may not be getting a fair placement.

You understand that you don't need to be a jerk just because I didn't get your poem. I'm sorry that I didn't know what scapegoats are, but I think I deserve an apology, too.

If you'd like an apology then you can have your own right back because I do not accept it. You didn't know what a scapegoat is so instead of opening a dictionary you disqualify my entry? Are you -kidding- me?

Truth be told, I don't care whether or not my entry is counted. I'm done posting on AG. Between the unwritten rules that I don't have the magical psychic powers to pluck from the minds of the mods and having to defend my entry against a "judge" who is either openly prejudiced or capricious in the extreme, it's not worth the frustration. So keep your apology. "Or whatever."

You're quitting a community forum over a stupid forum haiku contest? I should be the one sorry for you. Goodbye. Have a nice life. If you wish to come back, your "bigot" friend will be waiting to judge your poem.

Do so and this round's contest will be unofficial and your judgeship will be passed to someone else who is willing. You're stepping far beyond your bounds, Acmed. Judges are obligated to place entries based on content and content alone, not upon prior engagements or biases. Not all judges are capable, nor is it easy to effectively determine if a judge is being biased, but I don't need to reiterate that a judge must be 100% objective on all entries. That being said, it can be easy to see when a judge will turn biased when it's presented in open areas.

Secondly, there is an infinitesimal threshold between when an entry can be considered "with" the theme or "against" the theme. The only time when an entry cannot be part of the contest's theme is if it is without-a-doubt obvious or if the entrant posted the haiku without the intent of adhering to the theme. Poetry is one of the most flexible cloths you can imagine; not realizing the immeasurable rules won't do poetry justice.

Entry will be accepted, skirmish will be forgiven and forgotten, contest will flow just as before, and y'all have permission to move on with your lives. Unless I wasn't clear?

I suppose I won't get castigated for writing an economic haiku on Sunset and Sunrise Industries now heh.
