I'm sure you've all seen the above video, the woman dragging her child through a store using the "child leash"

We've all seen someone usingit, what is your opinion on it?

Some find it disgusting. O

thers see it as a wonderful parenting tool that is being misused by some and then being painted as evil.

This woman sees it merely as a tool to keep her child from getting lost: ][/url]

Personally I think it is the dumbest thing on the planet. If you can't control your child/your child can't control themselves, don't take them out to these public places. Plain and simple.

Ah true, it is wise to not take them out, but you can't keep them locked up forever and also, many people can't leave their child home alone or in the car. So they have to drag them through the store on a leash, otherwise they would be getting lost every 10 seconds since zap collars would be even more unethical. And also don't pin it on the adult for failing to take control of their child, everyone is different and child only seem to be tougher to control every day.

I think that it's useful as long as the parents don't use it too much. The kids should be taught to not wander, but if they keep running away and don't listen when the parents say to stop it the "child leash" might be useful.

At least she seems to ahve been arrested. I feel sorry for the kid if anyone has seen the Dog whisperer episode of southpark they know how humiliating a leash can be for a kid lol.

I can't see how dragging the kid about was the best thing to do becasue that video was ridiculous.

My older brother was a leash kid for a little while...I like to remind him of that.

As far as my opinion goes on their usefulness, they work. Whether or not I think they are right or should be used, no I don't. It is strange, I minded my parents, I respected them, but, it seems we have a new generation of parents who are just children. Children raising children. (by we I mean parents in the U.S. I don't know how other countries are in that area)

My mother used it on me and my brother to keep us from getting kidnapped. It don't like seeing them used as a tool for abuse, but they work for the purpose intended. Yes, everything can be used in an abusive way, but does that make them wrong? NO! I plan on using one with my children, but only for their safety. That kid looked like he was having a tantrum, and by my experience with my younger siblings, leash or not, they won't go willingly. It's just what the mother had to do without making that huge of a scene.

The leash seems kind of...over the top right?

Isnt that why they have the shock collar?

LOL

But really, it does seem like it was made for overprotective moms.

Dear God, this must be the most idiotic and barbaric invention since lobotomies.
Leashes are for pets. Children are human beings. Children should not be dragged around on a leash. If you can't control your child, then teach them to behave. If you can't teach them to behave, keep them in the house. If you can't keep them in the house, have a friend watch them. And if you can't do any of that, call Child Protective Services. But for the love of God, don't put them on a leash. It's repulsive and idiotic. I can't believe this has actually been invented.

We/they are? No we aren't. I'm personally surprised we're even protected by murder laws. Quite a freak of nature.

Personally, I hate it. It's a disgusting form of abuse that shouldn't be used. Of course, if you enjoy restricting freedoms (as overbearing parents do) then it's perfect.

But don't be surprised if I spit on you when you get in my way.

I have to admit that would have been funny to see first hand, but that was dumb. The problem is, the husband probably works, so she can't live the kid home. Although she should have just left the kid in the car rather than make a spectacle out of him.

I plan on using one with my children, but only for their safety.

Correction, that kid looked like he was being dragged through a store at surprising speed. That kid probably got a rug burn on his ass!

She has been charged with first degree cruelty to children.

I just don't see how you can get around the fact that a leash thats to be used on a person is obviously going to be misused by people.

Just to note, the kind of "leash" that my mom always used what just a bracelet type of thing on my wrist, and then the rope part attacked to that. Not a harness like in the second link, that's a bit odd. Makes it look like the kid is a dog going out for a walk.
