Well in many songs, movies, games and everything you see great nationalism for America. I kinda think it's stupid to use amerifcanism if you intend to spread your thing trhoughout the whole world. For example bands/singers we all over the world listen to, have a few songs about america, and how great it is. Well, I don't think America is all that good, maybe its also part of my own nationalism, but I actually always prefer speaking english on stuff I intend International. If you say your country is good, Will you make friends with that?
Just was wondering how people thought about this (I also want to hear some from some americans)
On one side of it America has been a dominant force for such a while that it tends to make us forget about the plights of other countries. Many dislike us for religious reasons, and no I am not saying ALL the Arabs hate us, but many people do not understand the propoganda they are exposed to. Muslims in India won't recive vaccination for polio because they belive that it is an American plot to sterilize their population. That is pretty severe. Often diplomatically we are forceful to get our way and that can be a big problem. Power corrupts. At the same time it is so strange that people such as... THE FRENCH forget that we saved them during the World Wars. We stood against the communist threat during the Cold War because we felt we had to. What would the world be like if America turned isolationist again? For example, Ron Paul wanted us to withdraw from our bases all over the world and just ignore whatever the reprecussions were.
Its the Goverment and Corperations IN USA I dislike, but then Its no different to UK or most anywhere else I guess
I think that this is the case more than anything. Americans are a caring people, look at how much humanitarian aid we send out to other countries. The Government does a bad job most of the time to really represent who we really are. And if you ask 2 Americans something you get 3 opinions.
Would the world really be happy if we were gone? Truly? Or would it just be enough that we lost our position of power and had to submit to the whims of other countries?
When these wars finally end I hope that we regain the respect that we once had.

So do I... America 100 years ago sounded like a place of real opportunity. It saddens me to know a nation that really WAS proud, has fallen with the rest of us. I get the feeling that alot of people saying "america is so good, how dare you dis my country" are, in fact, riding on the wave of prosperity that the real USA back in the day created. If you look to history you can clearly see the banks hand in taking your dollar away from the people.
And also this is a very important piece of evidence... blame canada. :P
I wonder if this is how Britain felt 100 years ago when they were the world's superpower. Everyone jealous of them. Or the French under Napoleon, or the Spanish when they were dominant.

Britain controlled 1/3 of the land on the Earth...
Don't get ahead of yourself 3rd largest country in the world.
Plus...Britain could actually conquer a country the size of Iraq =P
Sometimes i hate americans when they get too cocky about their country, that it is the best of all and when they ignore other countries. I think the main problem is that the countries are different size, and there will always be a big country mocking smaller. Its just that, i hate that stupidity... alo there is other explanations too
they are godd except that they are VERY full of themselves. and fat
MOST Americans aren't full of themselves. MOST Americans aren't fat. It's just the humble thin people seem to be invisible to most of the European people in the world, like you.
MOST Americans aren't full of themselves. MOST Americans aren't fat.
1. But those whoare are very very fat/full of themselves. 2. at a lot biger precentage than other contries. 3. your kids don't drink so much alcohol. Unlike us. We are the 2nd place!

Oh yeah, and you totally know this because you definitely live in America. Sorry., but you really fail on trying to enforce your stereotype here. I actually am American, so I'd know better than you. I've lived here my entire life.
