Opinion?

Mine is that you should at least be 11. I don't find them to be that bad. Just intense violence, suggestive themes, and swearing.

Some people do not like there kids to be exposed to stuff such as sex and suggestive themes (hopefully that won't get censored), and violence/murder, bad language etc.

I personally think, that murder and words like the f word c**t, etc. should not be exposed to children that young.

People have their own opinions though, and it's best to put restrictions on questionable games, so that they don't end up in the hands of kids who shouldn't have them.

I believe it should be 16. Just think of it like this- do you want an 11-year-old playing Leisure Suit Larry or FEAR? And it's not usually suggestive themes. It's usually sexual themes. There's a reason why the games are rated M, not E10. But I don't really believe that bein 18 is really necessary. I think they should make a new ESRB system.

C (children)- nothing bad
E (everyone)- mild violence
YT (young teen)- violence, mild blood, mild language
OT (older teen)- intense violence, strong language, suggestive themes
M (mature)- massive violence, massive language, sexual themes
Ao (adults only)- anything under this Green Earth (and maybe beyond.....

I think it depends on how mature you are, but I usually get bored with most M-rated games such as the GTA games. It just depends on how you handle and react games. If parents/guardians have problems with the games out there they shouldn't let kids play it. Enough about that I don't think there is a real age to play them.

That is why there are restrictions on the games. It's so that some random kid can't go out and buy Grand Theft Auto or something else and play it and hide it from his parents.

I think the ESRB system is good right now. And don't forget, there are different rating systems all over the world.

The ESRB M rating is for 17+. In addition to the intense violence and sexual themes, there may also be alcohol or drug use in the game.

Yes, but a lot of people way under seventeen have experienced that.

Obviously the people who sold it to you weren't doing their job then. Aren't you supposed to have a parent with you to buy it if you're under 17?

I can show my ID and get any M rated game I want :P

And since I went through 17 years, I think it is only fair that everyone else does too.

Seriously though, I can see 15 year olds easily being able to handle M games but deffinately nobody under 13. There are a few kids who can handle it, but the vast majority can't. Nothing is more annoying than a little boy that is violent and aggressive, and that comes from movies and games. Besides, there are a whole lot of great games that aren't M rated, so it isn't like your gaming life is being ruined.

I don't know. In a way, I think that there should be no age limit, just whatever time that parents think that their kids are mature enough to play M rated games. I myself have all M rated games with the exception of two of them, and I'm not 17 yet.

I think the rating system is fine. It's not gonna kill you if you can't play a game. And it's better for a child's development if they are not exposed to such intense themes and content.

Difficult saying. I've been watching R movies since 11-12. Playing M games (was Perfect Dark one?) since 12-13. I'm none the worse for it *shrug*. Though I do know that some boys get really bratty and aggressive about video games in general.

I don't think it should be age restrictive. It makes more sense to me to have age suggested. Parents should monitor what their kids are doing and how they are behaving, to whatever degree appropriate. Especially if they can't always count on the clerk.
