you people know that part of gensis is metaphors and stories made by the jews. the creation stories were made by jews to explain how the world was made, in my opinion, everything from or after the Flood is completely true. btw i in believe in God. YEAH GOD!!!!
So because they're Jews they're wrong? And it's pretty much the same crap after that, well at least to me it seems.
Happens in lots of religions all around the world. People today still talk to them even.
Not to mention that when more and more evidence was unearthed with more animals that link to common ancestors, Noah's boat started to sink more and more. So the Church took the evidence, changed the Bible and said that he rounded up DIFFERENT KINDS of animals. Losers, every one of them.
Dude, seriously, the Church doesn't change the Bible, and they haven't done that since the Roman days. If you have some proof that they did, it definitely wasn't the Catholic church, it was probably some pastor who did it indapendantly, and tried republishing it. He's still wrong for doing that. And losers? Come on now. VVVVV
Just keep debating and be mature, that will win over who you are debating and maybe even cause them to rethink their beliefs
Thank you. I'm even Christian and can still manage to debate rather friendly. Both sides should really take a breath or something after they read some of these, at least before posting.
But really the Bible, at least the parts that are vague, need to be read in between the lines and often-times metaphorically. And that doesn't mean the other parts are to be ignored. As a source of history, the Bible is still valid. When it talks about Joshua conquering Canaan, historians today look at the book of Deutoronomy as an accurate account of the war. And it's not like the Exodus was just made up. If you ask just about anyone who knows about ancient history, they will agree that the Jews did leave Egypt for Israel in a great movement. But after closer examination they do start to debate specifics.
Also most of the debate I've seen is over the Old Testament. Any thoughts on how that's based on/almost entirely the Torah?
And while we're at it lets talk about the Kaballah and Talmud and the Quran. There's a lot of similar ideas, ideologies and beliefs in all of these and they're holy books.
believers are so blissfully ignorant of the real world
Is this in response to anything? Do you have any evidence you'd like to share? Have you read the previous discussions? Close-minded statements that, in turn, generalize an entire group of people as ignorant are self-mocking and hold no standing in mature debate. Also, you should try some punctuation. It would literally take two seconds, and then you would at least appear gramatically correct.
That said, I don't see much more I can add; Quakingphear, you pretty much covered it.
dude boggess, don't be a flamer! You make the agnostics here look bad with your crap.
People today still talk to them even.
I know right! My friend Harry Potter can talk to them!
the Church doesn't change the Bible,
how come there's multiple versions of it? the Morons have theirs, the Catholics have their own book, it seems like for every branch of Christianity, there is a small change in it.

Perhaps not but it does make the Bible very convoluted.

Let me rephrase that. They don't change it the way he thought they did. The other changes were different and made during the Protestant Reformation. The Book of Mormon is an entirely different book from the Bible. Its not even based on it.
Maybe, before you ask about the bible. you should find out how and why it came into existence. Genesis, the creation tale,is in fact a condensed version of the 'Enuma Elish"[When in the heights...]. Once you understand that then all else falls in place. Noah, the hero of the deluge in the bible,is Ziusudra in the oldest recorded texts that we have discovered so far. Is the bible stupid? No. It is an historical document that, through archeology,is proving that these places and people did exist and left written records that correspond to events that are in the bible.
Seriously, if I see another rude comment about my religion I might not even debate in this forum anymore this is ****ing pathetic, learn to debate respectively.
fck you and all christians. lmao jk xD
and I realize you Christians are outnumbered, but at least you have the best debater of all on your side.... jesus.... lol xD
but seriously, there are a lot of respectful atheist/agnostic debaters on this site, however the douche bags are giving all of us a bad name.
to all you intolerant atheists, agnostics, jesus slaves or others: gtfo.
