The real reason of the bible was to unite ignorant people under one roof

Those ignorant people couldn't even read the Bible or they couldn't even get a copy of the Bible...

Problem. All those god-eys can just use the eternal excuse. Go helped them, he was in their heads and they didn't even know it...

Do you mean, the people who wrote the bible claimed God told them what to write?

yeah, that's right on the nose. However I think it's just BS and they were either crazy, or they lied about god telling them what to write. However most "god-eys" cling to the notion that god still somehow inspired the bible, and their religion isn't based on a fairy tale.

We also have to think back in those times. Copies were copied by hand, and sometimes the prophets would write notes next to their little sermon/teaching or whatever. Then another person would make a hand copy, and sometimes he wasn't sure whether that was supposed to be included in the writings. So imagine all the stuff that wasn't supposed to be there.

yeah that's a good point, however I'm not sure how many mistakes there would actually be with the bible. Also you never know that some of the text could have gotten mistranslated into the languages of today.

Considering most of the bible is bs anyways, it doesn't really matter.

And that's why they had people to tell them what the bible is and to interpret it for them. Pastors, Priests, high-ranked officials that were linked to the bible, those people.

So you can imagine all the things that the priests brainwashed into the people...

When I was a kid, I used to believe in monsters, and when it was dark, every sound that was made I thought was a monster. I believe religion is the same, sometimes you believe in it too hard that you see things that aren't really there

The thing is that, unless they can provide EVIDENCE that God was in their heads, their point is null. I could say that SATAN was in their heads, and was merely tricking the people into believing lies in order to spread corruption and bring the people to hell for not really believing.
Theres just as good chance for either one.

that is possibly the best response I've read to counter the "god told them what to write" notion. well done.

Don't you mean people who were literate and could read? Not until the 20th century, most of the world was illiterate.

We have to remember the Salem witch trials, many people used the witch excuse to kill the members of the community which they did not like. A lot of innocent people were burned or hanged to their deaths because "some one said"

Yes, but these people were linked to the bible and the Church greatly. Normal people who heard them pretty much convinced themselves that what they said was correct, since they were involved with the Church. Those who could read the bible, great as great can be, but those who couldn't read would just need another man's voice of the bible to finally know what it was about.

This is all McCarthyism, and their weapon was Christianity, and everything that was considered "bad", or "evil". This theory is valid, and again, they used the bible and high-ranking officials to destroy those that were 'slightly off', in order to "do God's bidding".
