This is too cool and advanced for the Tavern, lol.

The Irukandji is the most venomous jellyfish in the world. If you're stung, you'll die within 30 minutes. You can barely feel the sting, if at all, and it injects an extremely small amount of venom.

how is this a world event? eh who cares, better than most of the crap on this section anyway xD

And I too thought the box jellyfish was deadliest o.O but I never even heard of the Irukandji or however you spell it.

Pretty interesting. However the source is wikipedia and they are not always that reliable. A lot of the time they are, but not always o.O

Never heard of this kind of jellyfish before, but it seems very interesting so I'll read the article.

I've seen this little thing on multiple science channel shows, and picked up pretty much the exact same info in the Wiki article. This thing is real, and it's freaky.

Another one of just many reasons why the ocean is only meant to be looked at...

Apparently, it's thought to be the most venomous creature in the world.

Curse you Alt for putting our conversation into thread form! Now I'll have to think of something to strike you with. Excuse me for a moment....

...

By the way, it doesn't cause death, after careful looking, it just causes many serious and weird conditions that can be solved with a simple compound.

Mg(SO4)2, which is ALSO what I put on Alt's wall.

There are the giant ones that are larger than humans, then there are those that are smaller than a pinky nail. Which one is scarier? Lol

GAH

Lion's mane jelly is freaky. .____________________.

And yes, I've seen documentaries on this tiny jellyfish... it's... scary. Impossibly tiny and invisible, deadly undetectable stings...

Pretty unnerving. Unexplained deaths and whatnot.

That is, considering it actually DOES cause death.

Manta, it doesn't. It just does everything else that is half as bad.

Still scary... painful... the documentary on them that I saw was scary, though.

However, I've always HATED. HATEDHATEDHATED Man O' Wars. Those things have enormous tentacles, ya know?

Just man o' wars...

Hell, I'll pet a shark, but won't get near a Portugese man o' war.
