It opens with the team sitting around a campfire. Suddenly, there's a large, nearby explosion. Shouting figures appear and charge the quartet. Helicopters fly overhead, dropping more troops. Machine gun fire is heard, and roald flys through the air, bl oody. Felicity, Sonny, and Veradux draw their weapons, but there is a high pitched noise and they slump to the ground.
Zone 1 - Omicron Theta The Reaserch Facility
Sonny wakes up, tied to an operating table. He rips through his bonds, grabs a broken pipe, and sprints out of the door as alarms sound. For the first few battles against Doctors (read - weak priests) and ZPCI grunts ( read - prisonguards with Fire attacks) Sonny fights alone. He finds Veradux, also fighting his way through, and they go on together. Eventually, they make it to the outside of the building, only to discover that they are in some sort of flying building, many hundreds of metres up in the air. The building is vaguely donut shaped, and is spinning round a beam of light... Sonny and Veradux continue up the facility, until they reach the top by crawling through ventilation ducts. They overhear the Ambassador talking below them, and bust through the ceiling. They are thrashed by the Ambassadir and his guards, and only just escape... With the ambassador hot on their heels, they run up to the top, sealing the door behind them. They are now in a large room filled with tanks filled with grey fluid. Inside the tanks are people with brilliant white skin. At the back of the room, there are two generators with wires on the floor connecting them. Standing on the wires is a familiar face... Felicity. However, she has the chalky skin too, and it becomes clear she is a 'Twisted Experiment'. See the 'Create your own Enemy' thread for details. After curing Felicity, who collapses unconcious, Sonny has a flashback.
He is inside a tank. The tank is filled with blue liquid. Louis is standing outside the tank. Louis speaks. "I wonder if you can hear me, Sonny. After your mother died... I promised I would bring one of you back. And I did! Just a few more days and your neurones will be fully restructured. It was lucky that my contact in Hew managed to send all his research to me before Boris Livingstone shut his operation down... It was also lucky I found this!" Louis waves a tape in front of the tank. "So many secrets... the plague could have been cured by now if I'd been allowed to keep working at the Gate. Still, I learned enough to restructure the virus... to restore the dead! But that is not the sum of my research... this tape contains the secrets of how to open the Gate. Once I decode that, I shall be famous! My name will trumpeted to the skies! Louis O'Connell! A whole new universe!"
The flashback fades and Sonny wakes up in the present...
Sonny, Veradux, and Felicity (carried by Veradux), escape out of a door at the back of the room, killing some Twisted Experiments and some Frankies. After 30 turns in battle, Felicity wakes up and she begins to fight too. Eventually, they find themselves in a hangar bay. They steal a helicopter, and fly down to the gound, crashing it. Some ZPCI skydive to meet them, and after beating them, the trio arrive in an ancient temple, where the beam of light is coming from...
Zone 2 - K'Speth The Gateway
The three of them enter the temple, pursued by some ZPCI, after killing them, they encounter some rock demons(read - earth type frost zombies). Eeventually, they find themselves in a huge chamber. The roof is open, and from a pit deep within the earth, the huge pillar of light blasts up. The three of them kill the Gate Guardian, a giant Rock Demon. Sonny notices pictures of tapes along the walls, along with some pictures which show this story:
In the beginning there was nothing. Then Ata and Ephey came into being, and from themselves they forged two worlds, connected by a gate of light. Ata made time flow, and Ephey made space expand. But from this, another was born. A nameless one, he found Ata, and poisoned his mind with darkness. Ata awoke, and with a terrible scream, he broke the barriers between the worlds, unleashing a terrible plague of living death upon the worlds. Ata escaped into the first world, wreaking havoc with his great power. Ephey gazed at her brother's corruption, and departed to destroy him. They fought for many days, until at last Ephey destroyed the corrupted part of Ata's soul. The nameless one fled, as the barriers between the worlds crumbled. Ata was trapped in one world, and Ethey in the other. Ethey left behind a magic box, that in the hands of a living dead, could re - open the portal, thus allowing Ethey to battle her brother once more, as history was bound to repeat itself...
Sonny appproaches the beam of light, pulling the tape from his pocket. Suddenly, there is an enormous explosion, and ZPCI pour in. The tape is knocked from Sonny's hand, flying into the beam of light. There is an enormous flash of white light, and Veradux falls into the beam of light. Sonny and Felicity dive after the tape. Felicity misses but Sonny grabs it and pulls it out of the beam. There is another flash of white light...
Sonny wakes up. Veradux is lying a few metres away from him. He stands up, looks at the sky, and gasps with shock. There are 4 moons...
Sonny wakes up. Felicity is lying a few metres away from him. They appear to be at the bottom of the pit, but the beam of light is gone. He checks his hands. So is the tape...
Tongue was purely in cheek I have problems with Roald's lack of a brain. He does a well-timed stun every once in a while, but more often than not just makes me wish I hadn't used Flash Freeze on the same turn he Shell Shocks someone.
