I believe in USA you are legally an adult at 21 am I wrong?
Anyway its just strange because amny people are mature enough to know what ahppens in tehiur country and some dont. It depends in how yo grew up and so. SO shouldnt there be an examn to see if people are mature enough to vote?

I heard someone said you are an adult when you start thining like one. That's more than right! But you can't say that the very same day you become 18 years old you start thinking like one, thats what I meant at first.
But none uderstood, lol.

can you really distinguish your thought process type or does habituation prevent you from this?

you cannot distinguish your thought process at the present, only looking to the past.

An Adult is someone of 18 years of age or older.

Discussion over.

Now reaching MATURITY is what you are discussing =P

Sounds sorta like the Jim Crow laws. (Wikipedia for those who don't know). I'm assuming you're discussing America. Every citizen, regardless of station, has the right to vote because they are a citizen of this country and have every right to vote. Just as races, genders, or religions should not be singled out to not vote, we should not exclude those who are not "smart." The cutoff point would be completely arbitrary and then the question becomes who isn't "smart" enough to vote. Every citizen should not be allowed to drive (because that requires skill and is very, very dangerous), every citizen should not be allowed to own a gun (ex-felons), but every citizen has the right to vote.

That's nothing like Jim Crow laws.

yes, it would a law prohibiting voting for an indecent cause.

but no, it is not racist and its' purpose is not to set back a race, therefore is not Jim Crow-style.

it very most likely would never get passed.

the penitentiary system is made to have a just reprecussion to unacceptable actions. once you are out of prison, you should always be treated and considered just the same as everyone else-- you have payed your debts that society forced you to pay. why do you need to suffer more? in an ideal situation the judge's decision is final and should stand on its' own.

So you've been in college for 4 years and your still a freshman?
Yes, when you don't take a full load until now, it takes forever.

That's because they start drinking beer at age 13. :P
Actually it's 14 in the presence of a parent.

Your parents don't pay for all your stuff anymore

Haha, I wish mine paid for stuff. I had to start buying my own things after I got a job. They still feed my brother and I, but everything else, nope.

I never said it was based on race. I simply said it was an arbitrary law set by someone to prevent someone else from voting by using a method developed by the same people. It's not the same, but it is the same principle.

DK Example:
Twelve year olds should be getting foot chains to administer their movements if they have been doing something criminal, because they are old enough to understand the world and the consequences.

16 year olds should not be given the right to vote, because they have no idea how the world works or the consequences.

but every citizen has the right to vote.

Ya right they should let three-year-olds vote? No they would vote on who "looks cool" or who promises the most candy or something equally silly.

16 year olds should not be given the right to vote, because they have no idea how the world works or the consequences.

That's crazy your judging on the average 16-year-old while there are quite a bit of smart/mature ones who'll know the consequences and who they think should be a Prime Minister or President of their country.

but does he/she have experience?will he/she be able to act quickly, efficiently in an emergency?will he/she sit on the chair for hours reading/signing paper after paper,i mean, they wanna play!!!(ignore this if you're a nerd)and how disgracing would it be for another president/minister to sit in the presence of a mere kid in a meeting, when he is in his/her 40s,and some could be senior citizens too,and in a peace talk, you fill them with jealousy, and not peace

so tsl, obama won because all the young people thought that since their friends were, it must be the right choice?

FAIL

yes obama won the majority of the young vote, that doesnt mean that young people can't vote for themselves. yes i will state that there are some people who will vote because of peer pressure, but not all. if i could vote i woulda voted for Obama myself, because out of him and McCain, Obama was obviously most left-sided. HE IS NOT A COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST. I am a socialist and obama still has quite a ways to go before he can seriously be a socialist, and not one out of right-wing faux news slander.
