I believe in USA you are legally an adult at 21 am I wrong?
Anyway its just strange because amny people are mature enough to know what ahppens in tehiur country and some dont. It depends in how yo grew up and so. SO shouldnt there be an examn to see if people are mature enough to vote?

yes obama won the majority of the young vote, that doesnt mean that young people can't vote for themselves. yes i will state that there are some people who will vote because of peer pressure, but not all. if i could vote i woulda voted for Obama myself, because out of him and McCain, Obama was obviously most left-sided. HE IS NOT A COMMUNIST/SOCIALIST. I am a socialist and obama still has quite a ways to go before he can seriously be a socialist, and not one out of right-wing faux news slander.

*Face Palm* Lets enter the epic fail of the American government class. Why exactly would you vote for Obama if your a socialist? Vote socialist! You had about 8 options on the 2008 ballot not 2. I don't care if they wouldn't have won at least try to A) get your party recognition. B) try to get 2% of the vote so the government will fund your party. Welcome to possibly the worst law ever. Your tax money goes to the big two political parties!!! We need to throw away the traditional two party system ideas and get some third party votes!!!! Rant!

...anyway Obama is quite socialist but he's not there yet, and I don't think he wants to be.

Also you can't rent a car till your 25, sooo I mean your not an adult EVERY where until your 25. When I'm 18 I'll consider myself an adult though.

There is no "legal adult" age. Smoking, voting, military are 18. Drinking is 21. Rent a car is 25.

SO shouldnt there be an examn to see if people are mature enough to vote?

I was probably more mature at 12 that most 18 year olds were. But there shouldn't be any sort of "maturity test." Maturity is a relative thing. Also, they used to have "voters tests" made specifically to exclude blacks from voting. If there were a vote test, it would become a huge problem.

right

That's crazy your judging on the average 16-year-old while there are quite a bit of smart/mature ones who'll know the consequences and who they think should be a Prime Minister or President of their country.

And you two clearly missed the point.
There are currently two suggestions up:
To make it legal for 12-year-olds to wear foot chains when they have being stealing or doing anything criminal as they are old enough to understand the consequences of their actions while the other is to make the voting age 16, but the politicians are against it because they are unable to understand the consequences of their actions.
You see the paradox?

so tsl, obama won because all the young people thought that since their friends were, it must be the right choice?

FAIL

Actually, WIN is more accurate.

I know so many people who voted for him because of their friends.

People don't do drugs for no reason, amirite? They do it in the company of friends. People don't commit crimes for no reason, they do it usually because friends and/or family want them to.

It's called peer pressure.

Did I every say that they can't? No, I did not. I said a majority of them voted because their friends did. It's complete propaganda. Not only that, but Obama specifically targeted young people to vote for him, knowing that they are much easier targets, and usually no very little to nothing about politics. While this is certainly common in just about every political campaign, I saw this far more in his than I did in any other I've researched.

Friends + Propaganda = Biased votes

You don't get 95% of young peoples votes simply because you sound better. That's like saying I should get an a in my chemistry class because I could draw sodium bicarbonate, and my classmate can just name what hydrocyanic acids' common name is.

Imitation is very important, if the person who you respect and who you empathize does something and you respect this person either too much or your character is quite wake you will do the same thing too.

The young person are always more radical and rebellious. A 18 year old person usually wants to change the world.

In America, you need to be 21 to consume alcohol. Yet you can fight for your country at 18.
