Why would you kill civilians. Even if it's a mere retribution it's still wrong and barbaric.
Israel wanted to kill the terrorists that killed their civilians. For their own reasons, the terrorists hid in the cities, so it was nessesary to kill the sivilians to get to the terrorists.

1) it's never justified killing children. Never. 2) when you kill innocent people the only thing you do is create more terrorist. You turn the pacifist and non-fanatic person into terrorist who are ready to die. You kill their children, you destroy their homes, they can't work, the only choice they have is fight against Israel. War creates more problems than solutions.
Good luck with that. Co-existence is key. By separating everyone, it creates hatred.
If anything we should learn from the mistakes of the past. Many nationalities and cultures are simply not particularly tolerant, and all that mixing of races does is create tension in inherently monocultural environments.
Maybe because when Israel was created, millions of Arabs were forced from there homes. Hundreds of thousands starved to death. And now they are in refugee camps, or trapped in Gaza or the West Bank where Israel has created terrible conditions for the Arabs.
When the first Jews arrived in Israel as immigrants, declaring they did not wish to create a de-facto presence in the area, they formed cooperative farming communities with Arabs, actually buying land off many of the Arabs.
In addition, part of the reason the Palestinians find themselves in such a horrible position is because they have been betrayed by their own leaders. Arrafat died one of the richest men in the world, squandering aid money on palaces and luxuries. You cannot blame Israel for that.
When Blair went into Northern Ireland to sort out the 'troubles', he had a rather sensible policy in my view. It was to ignore history. Since 1882 the Irish had been fighting amongst themselves. The policy of basically saying, I don't care what preceeded these events, the violence occuring today is unnaceptable and willl be stopped. It was resoundingly successful. Not learning from this with regards to Palestine would be a mistake.
It's a completely unjustified response.
I agree. I never supported the recent Israeli action in the region, as they clearly did breach protocols of war, and of course it was disproportionate. However events like that should not fool you into thinking reaching peace is impossible.
Just to say, I think it is an odd view you have, to criticise Israel's seizing of the area on racial, cultural and historical grounds, and yet at the same time claim that Arabs and Jews cannot get along, and should thus be separated.
In all reality, the Israelis just took their land back from the Arabs, they lived there back during the Roman days but where removed by I believe Hadiran probably during one of the Jewish wars. Yes, Israel does respond quite harshley whenever attacked, but I don't blame them for it. They defend their own and will not let other countries push them around or mess with them. They are a people that have been persecuited for years and it looks like their not going to take it anymore. They are surrounded by enemies, peoples and nations that want to remove them from the face of the Earth and anything less then harsh response will lead to their eventual removal, it has happend before. Funny in a way though, refering to Iran, a nation that's leaders have said they want to remove Israel from the face of the Earth that their leader (I know his name but I can not spell it) has turned out to be at least partially Jewish. I haven't been following it lately but can someone tell me if he's said anything like that recently?
Let me ask a question to all the Israel haters. Can you blame a man for what his father did? If you can, please enlighten me, because that makes absolutely no sense to me. If you can't, then there's no reason to hate those who live in Israel. If you want to demand land back, that can be attempted through negotiation; but under no circumstances should the Jews of Israel be attacked and killed because of what their ancestors did. I'm Polish, and my grandfather was tortured in a Nazi camp. Do I have any hatred for Germans or Germany? Of course not. That would be irrational and stupid to blame someone for the faults of their ancestors.

Lets just say that there is a 20MT hydrogen bomb under, lets say, New York city. The bomb is going to go off in 15 minutes, and it is incased in such a way that the only way to get rid of it is to bomb it very heavily. You evacuate the area, but there are 500 people in the red zone of the bombs. Would you bomb the place and kill most of those 500, or would you let a bomb kill 50 million people?
Need I tell that terrorists killed children on purpose, and remind of the dolfinarium massacare? What would you have done in Israel's poistion?
