I PossibleInstability, am starting a club where fellow Atheists can meet each other and talk. I have met few Atheists and I would like to meet some more.

If you aren't an Atheist, please don't post.

i especially don't agree with Christianity

Why are atheists so rude towards Christains out of all religions?
religion = ignorance
science = fact

I can be perfectly aware of my surroundings and be religious. In fact, I believe in evolution. It's just that atheists take the bible more literally.

Why am I posting here? Because obscuredemon posted on the Christain Club thread.

It's the most prominent religion in America, most members here are American. Therefore it is the religion they are most familiar with.

Is that not going directly against your religion?

Fair enough.

Just because there's a lot of us atheists hate us the most?

Not really. Some of the stories in the bible are who knows how old, and they might have been mistranslated.

I am an Atheist/Buddhist, but I am only going to say this and then stay out. I tend to be very against religion and I don't get along with active religious people.

No, to be honest they're just dicks. The fact is, some people find it necessary to hate people who don't agree with them. Christians fit that profile to a T, and there you have it.

So, are you Christian, or do you believe in a higher being similar to that which is portrayed in the Christian religion? Because I'm pretty sure most Christians don't discredit the bible as a reliable source of information, seeing as how their entire religion is based around it.

No, I believe some of the scriptures in Genesis were metaphors. God did not make animals and the Earth in 7 days, he made bacteria (which evolved into animals) and the Earth in 4 billion years. But people in ancient times couldn't understand that.

There are people in modern times that believe that.

You know what, arguing with you dudes is pointless... Neither of us are going to convert each other. Can't we respect our differences? I'll stay out of discussion unless someone says something very rude or untrue about my faith.

you Christians believe god sent an angel to tell a man to write down the bible. which is gods words.
then you say
God did not make animals and the Earth in 7 days
the bible says he made the earth and all the animals and living things and organisms in 7 days. then on the seventh day he took a break( will rant on this in a sec). so your saying the direct word of god is wrong?

and if god is an all knowing all powerfull being why does he need a break?

The funny part is that story is from the Jewish bible which wasn't good enough for Christians to accept.

Ok, just dropping by this thread for a moment--I'm not an atheist..and this just goes with Sargantfrostys point--but I just want to share some knowledge I learned in school. 7 is a number that represents completion. So basically the story is saying, God made the world and competed it; once it was completed he rested.

Let it be, is what Jesus would say

Set an example for Christians and be Christ like. Don't hold grudges. =]
