The thing I never got about America is why there are different age limits for different things. At 18 you are an adult and you can smoke, play the lottery, go to a indian casion, buy porn, buy guns and so on. By why is it that you can't buy or drink alcohol until age 21? So at 18 you can put tobacco in your body but not alcohol because why? They both have the danger of killing you. Well America will probability never change this, so for right now I will just keep driving up to Canada to drink. = ]
the reason for this is because the avg human body has a fully developed liver at about the age 21. the liver filters most of the alcohol and plays a vital role in filtering out bad things in alcohol
It's becouse certain groups of people presured the representatives to enforce the law and the federal government made the states enforce it through federal money, in other words some uptight people ruined it for everyone. The funniest thing about it is at the same age you can start drinking you can buy a handgun, bad combination really. Also, you have to be 21 to take a cruise by yourself, have to love age limits.

The economy might be better, but there would be just complete chaos. When prohibition was put in place, illegal bars were made, moonshine runners came, and there was just violence everywhere.
Actually, people do tend to mature a bit more when they become adults and have responsibilities and such. Maturity is measured by the way you conduct yourself, not how much you know or how old you are.
One sentance says that as you age you become more mature, the other says maturity has nothing to do with age.

Okay, one, how would the common man be making tons of money? 2, prohibition was tried before, it was in the constitution, and guess what? Our economy started to go down, there were riots and such things, it took away all the peoples jobs that were to sell, distribute and make alcohol. Why do you think we don't have prohibition any more.
you can't drink before 21 because it retards the development of the brain. your brain develops back to front, and the front is common sense, which doesn't fully develop until (around) the age of 25.
simply put: drinking before your brain is fully developed will fuck up your common sense, and if you drink enough soon enough in your life it will retard your physical development and often come back to be a burden.
the US government will never, ever lower the legal drinking age. it's an absurd thing to do and it accomplishes absolutely NOTHING. underage teens, at least starting at 14, could easily acquire alcohol with one or two connections at their high school. lowering the drinking age to 18? please. i see how many 13-15 year olds buy cigarettes off of 18/19 year olds. we don't need something like alcohol going around the school as if it's the latest virus.
Well it is weird that they allow you to have tobacco in your body at 18 and not alchola because I always thought tobacco was worse then alchaol maybe I was wrong(like mostly )but that does seem weird.
