Here is an interesting question, what if America was invaded by land, by another huge army. What I am saying is if both the east and west coast were invaded by millions of foot soldiers that would move across the entire country. Think of this if like a D-Day happened in America. So where would you go? What would you do? Would you fight or hide? Hey you never know if this could happen but America would probably have a nuke war before this happens.

The US owes China about 800 Billion dollars in Treasury Bonds. THis is a fairly large sum of money, in anyones terms. So lets say that China DID attack the US and the _____.

Great, now theres just a larger China in existence. China feeling good about itself, decided to force the US to pay back its debt. Just one problem: there IS no US anymore. With no US to pay interest payments, these payments stop, and China is out the loop for 800 Billion.
Lost:
China attempts to invade, and gets a handy kick in the butt. So what would likely happen is that the US cries 'Havoc' and magically argues that China has forfeited their right to the money, etc. NOrmally, this would be fairly substantial grounds for a war, but considering that they just lost, and the US further provoked could stage a counter-invasion (which is what any self-respecting strategos would do), it would be better to not say anything.
So all-in-all, its better for China to just sit around and collect payments. Quite frankly, there sitting in 'Jail' as the US lands on Boardwalk... repeatdly. They have everything to gain by sitting around, and could lose it all by acting. This same reasoning could be applied to North/South Korea, which is why its in Chinas best interest to keep the peace there.

All in all, the US would get the last laugh if they were invaded, and lost. US contributes 20% to the worlds GDP, and a lot of countries depend on the US for markets. SO if the US goes down, so are a lot of other countries.

If Europe turned into an actual country, allied itself with most countries in South America, then make allies with Russia and China, they could take over the world. That will never happen, though.

Anyways, if America was invaded, I'm pretty sure most of Europe would get involved too, either to help, or to make sure things get solved before the nukes go off.
