Here is an interesting question, what if America was invaded by land, by another huge army. What I am saying is if both the east and west coast were invaded by millions of foot soldiers that would move across the entire country. Think of this if like a D-Day happened in America. So where would you go? What would you do? Would you fight or hide? Hey you never know if this could happen but America would probably have a nuke war before this happens.
For all my fellow residents of the UK that have said they would 'laugh their ***** off' and 'continue life as normal' - have you thought about the relationship of the 'New America' with the UK? I doubt they're going to declare us outright enemies but it's possible and if that happens then you probably won't be able to 'laugh your ***** off' because they will have been shot off.

...You just copied your previous post without making any new points. My point still stands that we couldn't be sure of the post-war allegiance of America.
America would be weak after a massive invasion and the east would quickly take there place. We would just start sucking up to them instead of the USA nothing would change for us.
The key to controlling America in an invasion would be controlling Canada and Mexico. As I'm sure it has been said, The Rockies and Appalacians are huge tactical barriers. So, I as an invading Strategos would use them to my advantage (walls don't keep me out; they keep you IN). Control the Eastern and Western seaboards with an all-out, Normandy style joint arms invasion. But, you leave the mid-west with supply routes to the north and south, and leave your flanks unguarded.
SO, to protect your flanks and to conquer, you would either have to Invade the North American Landmass, or have very, very good diplomats. Mexico would be easier; something like 'support for your drug war; we'll ship back the illegals' but I dunno, I'm not a diplomat.
Which leads to the second problem: Attrition. America is one of the larger nations of the world, with an estimated population of 300,000,000. SO lets assume that Canada and Mexico both agree to offer no aid to America, and you control the East and West coast op to the Appalacions and Rockies. Any country would have to ship their supplies all the way accros the Pond or the Pacific, not to mention get them to the front. It would be a HUGE logistics battle, and only the largest nations could pull it off: China, Russia, and maby the UK, or if the EU did something crazy.
I won't go on about NORAD and the like, I think we all know what happens their. But any attack would have to be Sub-rosa and come as an absolute complete surprise.
My plan:
1) Trade war: China is in a great spot to do this. Just mess up Americas economy and thats half the battle.
2) Diplomats: Become assured that Canada and Mexico will remain neutral. Even better if you could have bases in their countries.
3) Seaboards: Great tactical advantage, not to mention crippliing the remainder of America's economy due to the alck of exports/imports.
4) Attrition: Logistically challenging, but coupled with the fact that America would'nt be geting any new supplys that they couldn't make, it would be great.
All this helps you to win, without irradiating anything worth taking.

China would not take a large part in this for two (2) reasons:
1) China exports a lot to America. Lead toys, Nike, everything at Walmart, etc, etc. If you take America out of the equation, they wouldn't collapse, but would lose a large part of their profit. It would not be economically sensible for them to allow America to be invaded, which leads me to my second point.
2) China is the 2nd largest buyer of America's debt. If America was gone, then they just lent a **** load of cash that there not gonna get back. I would be pretty peeved if that happened to me. With this motivation, they might actually end up supporting America.
And most of the east is just a bunch of third world, straw-hut rice patties. They wouldn't start on top, but the cards would be in their favor, as most of the western countries are in massive debt.
The big problem is that about 20% of the worlds GDP is from America. The West would lose its trade parters, the East would lose the employers of their cheap labor, and the Mid-East would lose the dumping grounds for most of their oil. Quite frankly, America has become to important to EVERYBODY for ANYBODY to sit around while it falls to its knees.
this entire topic is total BS anyway, with the most powerful navy in the world, and our only true threats on some other continent, America has nothing to fear! Not to mention the Gov't probably has some space-age **** that they're keeping under double-secret-probation...

Plus if england got invaded I'd move make to my homeland, Poland! And I'd laugh my head of with my russian friend that the Uk got invaded, but if UK got invaded I'd laugh double than if america was invaded.
