Greetings, if you are looking here, it means you are fed up with the Colony hacks. I hope that Krin sees this and attempts to follow my proposition, as i KNOW it would reduce hacking to a bare minimum.
1: Have administrators. I understand why this may be improbable seeing as it's a free game, but it really is a necessity. Somebody who can be told "xyz is cheating by doing this." All games within the past 1 hour are recorded and the admin can observe the game and determine whether or not that person is cheating. If so, one time caught cheating results in an account closure. New problem "hackers can just make a new account...or play as guest..." refer to steps 2+3.
2: Link Colony accounts to an email address. When you insert your name and password, also require an email address. ONCE AN EMAIL HAS BEEN USED, MAKE IT UNABLE TO LINK TO A NEW ACCOUNT. That means, one email: one account. If people want to hack, they have to keep on making email accounts which is both time consuming and boring.
3: The guest problem: Eliminate guests. What is the purpose of a guest? To allow new players to experience online play? If a person wants to try online play, they should only need to insert a username, create a password, email address, and they can play...nobody enjoys playing with a guest, it's a risk to have on your team, they either don't know what a bank is, are rank 10's in hiding, or hackers. Get rid of them.
Feel free to comment upon whether you think this is a good or bad idea, or whether it will even work. Personally, I think it would vastly reduce the hacking going on, but I also understand it would be difficult to get admins.
Who here has been hacked before? HAHA. I've never been hacked, thank God. I have this schoolmate who died because she fell chest first really hard on the ground when she was dancing. I heard that that schoolmate of mine was really weight conscious and some people say that she sometimes use weight loss pills and a few days after her death, her yahoo account sent a group message about this herbal weight loss pill. Creepy. Some hacked her account:|
Version 2.2 was supposed to desynchronize hackers, but awsomenessguy showed me it is still possible to cheat. These hackers and glitchers are cheaters who dont have guts to play a fair game. Im fed up. Cheating is ruining Colony. I love this game, but its becoming impossible to play. Who is interested in bringing Colony down? Thats the only explanation for such a huge load of cheat. I wish I could know which games will be hacked. Nowadays, I play only whith known people, either friends or players so good that they dont need to cheat, like Jayden. Forming guilds could be a solution.
While guilds may allow the players in them to have fun...what about the vast majority of people who play online games who just wanna have some fun when they log on? Is it fair that they should be left out of the normal games and get wildly hacked? I don't think we should conform to the hackers, I think we should put an end to them.
Hmm...the problem with recording the games is the conversation...
It should all be deleted, because...well...some people might say secret stuff in there, people might discuss *private* matters using a game like that, etc.
Lifemaster, you are right about making Colony stronger, guilds arent such a good idea... Im not interested in bringing Colony down, I just wonder who is doing it and why. It can not be just for the pleasure of hacking, cause hackers press one button to start the game and another to end it. I cant believe someone gets fun out of this. I think Colony is under attack cause it is so powerful (and free). None of these paid games we see advertising on flash game sites get even close to Colony. Sid Meyer's Civ, the great game, is not better than Colony, and I doubt any game is.
As a side note to Krin, Colony is a good enough game that you could make money off of it. Not kidding. If it were a flat fee of say...20 bucks, I'd pay it (and this is assuming that hacking diminishes). You might consider in future having a Colony game that has full screen, perhaps more bases, bigger teams? People would pay though. Obviously, this is an enormous amount of work...but I just thought I'd put it out there.
