My Memories of Colony

There is a war on Colony. Krin and players like me versus the cheaters. Colony is getting out of control these days. I remember when the game came out it was so big that the first server was packed all the time, so I stuck to the campaign. I used to play every mission so much that I wanted to see which missions the player's partner could win without you, and how long it could take the player's partner to lose. Then Beatrix came out then I started my online account. I became one of the pros in a week. When I was rank 3, I beat Theos, a rank 5 who was considered the best by a group of pros, in a one on one. This is when I realized that on one on one games would be won by the player who uses the best strategy using the Forge and Outpost. A few weeks after, a player called darkerchon found me, and beat me many times with the same strategy. After the first two games, I just played him just so I could learn his strategy. This player was the best, but he left quickly, after I somehow perfected his strategy. This led me to further my win ratio to a higher number. It was fun because I never saw a hacker, until the release of version 1.14. At that time, there were only a few who knew how to hack, so I really did not mind. The life on Colony was not really affected by this, until a hacker posted a forum on cheatengine.com. It had all the scan codes and stuff, so then Colony's hacker population went up. Then Krin released version 1.15, I think. This update came with the two new ranks 6 and 7. By this time, I played so many one on one games with others, that I reached rank 7 in two games after this addition was added. Then in another update Krin took away the one on one feature, which made me upset because I liked playing the best players for wins, but I continued in my path to form the best one on one strategy. Soon after, I noticed more hackers on Colony, so I made a topic called Colony: "List of Hackers" by SOMASTER. It had a list of all the hackers I personally saw using hacks, and suspects that other players reported to me. Later on, Krin released version 2.0, which came with three new units, one new building upgrade, fixed typos, a new resource increaser, and change cost for some units. Then Krin released version 2.1, which came with the ranks 8, 9, and 10. It took me awhile to reach rank 10 because of all the one on one games I played that did not count. It was fun trying to see how to make these units part of my strategy. Then Krin released version 2.2, which finally had the power to stop hackers for good, using the smartfox system. Well, it was working for a week until a veteran hacker, posted a topic on a website that had a hacked version of 2.1, which comes with the hacks. This is why the smartfox system does not work anymore. Well before the hackers started using this website, they planned an attack on Colony. It involved compromising my SOYMASTER account because I was the one who made the topic on armorgames.com called Colony: "List of Hackers" by SOYMASTER. The plan was to hack my account, and spam all over the community of armorgames.com, so that account of my would be banned for a while. Well when this was happening, Colony was being overrun be the players who were using the hacked Colony website. This made people tell Krin that there was hack to override the smartfox system, but it was a hack it was a copy of an older version, so this led Krin to make fast updates to colony in a 24-hour time period. Now this is where we are now in the life on Colony, version 2.5. Now I got information that a player who used to go by Coltongrundy, he has a new account now, is tell all the new players on Colony about the hacked Colony website, which adds more hackers to the game, and this is why so many new accounts are appearing that are rank 10. The war has turned in favor to the cheaters, but Krin and the players that never cheated are still trying as hard as they can to stop this madness, and get Colony back under control. Right now Colony is holding on by a strand of hair trying not to die. I hope Krin wins this waronce and for good.
Here I was, getting owned by a camping elf noob. I myself was Isengard. My opponent used all of the noob tricks, which are hard for even good players to get around. I call them noob tricks, because most respectable people agree on not using them. Anyway, as a last ditch effort, I massed out about 5 beserkers, snuck around his defenses and took out his fort. To bad that didn't win me the game, because I have to destroy all of his Unit production buildings. I was hard on cash, he had the equivalent to a blockade set on me. For a LAST ditch effort I made a battlion of wargs, fully upgraded them, sent them around his blockade and defenses, and managed to destroy his last unit production buildings. He knew the noob tricks, but he was still a noob...[/offtopic]
My response is, well the losing move is what made the game end. In my game with Lifemaster the losing move was in the beginning. Last, when playing a good player, if you make a mistake, then your opponent has to make a mistake to in order for the game to be even, until the next player makes a mistake.

You raise an interesting concept here YOS, and that is: Colony is not based on skill. Yes, I just said that. The only skill involved in Colony revolves around 4 buttons called attack, hold ground, charge, and fall back. If used appropriately, these will give you the winning advantage. Colony is mainly a game of knowing strategies and their counters. A knowledge of timing and resource income and outcome are also very helpful.

And I'm sorry...but I find it impossible to believe that anyone pays you to play Colony. But in the case that they did...that still doesn't make you a pro. You still need to be "the best." Which of course nobody is. Nobody will always be undefeated.

My response is, Colony is not in the skill game section for a reason. It is a real time strategy game, which is why it is found under the strategy section. Last well the person who pays me is my dad. It is my allowence.

I remember when I first made The Blacklist on Krinlabs. Before I made the list I fight ing a battle with a hacker on my team. We won, but I felt like the victory was stolen from me. I was so angry at the time that I literally wanted to bath in the blo- Er kill the hacker, but instead I calmed down and made "The Beware List" for all the people who play Colony to know of who hacks and who exploits. A KL admin by the name of "SS" had reconized what I was trying to do and he reformed "The Beware List" into "The Blacklist". I was so happy at the time that I almost cried. And so SS and I went to work. He put a few on the list, but I was hyper with nothing to do and put a whole bunch of hackers and exploiters on The Blacklist.

At the time people did not know of "The Blacklist" So I tried to spread the word about it, to get more and more people to know about "The Blacklist" and soon people started to know and started to use the list I helped create.

A few months later I decided to go on a mighty quest to try to reform AG (I still have no clue what I am doing) and found "SOYMASTERS' Hackers List" I was so happy that someone over here in AG was helping in the fight against these noob hackers and I provided links to many things ( mostly things on KL like The Blacklist and The Compromised List and Cholokids' Ranking FAQ).
And then SOYMASTER's account was infiltrated by hackers as an attack on our dear Colony. I din't know what to do at the time, but hope and pray (well actually I don't really pray). And then SOYMASTER got his account back with the help of the Mods and Admins of AG. I send my thanks to them, for SOY did have a system against hackers going that people knew about...
And then I took a small break from Colony and the lists, because (thanks to Cholo's help) I realized that I was modding Colony when I was not suposed to. And I also learned what do if some idiot does not listen to what is said and what is done.

I have just recently learned how to pervent hackers and exploiters from taking my games and kicking me. Now I feel more perpared to fight "For the good game!"

Here is a fun fact: The Blacklist was made several days before SOYMASTER'S Hackers List.

Had a feeling it was your dad. He's not paying you to pay Colony however.

Oh and could you find me the skill section of AG? I didn't know we had one. /sarcasm off Skill is something involved in most (good) games. I am pointing out the fact that you can't be that much better than other players because Colony doesn't rely on skill, but strategy.

I remember when I was just a noob and used to lose a lot. Once, a partner left me in the field to die. I made a troop of marines and sent them behind four tanks, to counter scouts that were pwning me. I didnt know exactly what I was doing, I was a newcomer to Minerva.
I kept sending the marines, two tanks made their work at the enemy's base; when I saw they were gonna explode I built a forge and sent some A25 (at the time I called them cylons...), and when it was finished I was trembling, and I had won my first 1v2 battle.
By keeping an oath, "never cheat, never quit", I made it to rank 10.
I still lose a lot

My response is, I have a oath to "Protect your honor as a player of Colony." I did not know, until recently that Final Fantasy VII says something like that.

My response is, I guess you will not be hacker hunting. I will continue my self-appointed job then, as a hacker hunter on Colony.

My response is, build a bridge and get the hell over it.

There are no &quotros". Nobody gets paid to play. Nobody is going to inscribe your name on a stone tablet and tell their children stories about playing Colony.

Please stop spamming Colony threads all over the forum. Stop branding your name on all of your threads. Stop pretending that you're sharing in the glory of someone else's creation.

My response is, that everyone needs to read the whole topic to understand what is going on. I am not spamming on the colony topics. My post make are some of the longest on this topic, and I dont spam on other topics. There are pros. One of the deffinitions of pro is, showing a high degree of skill.

YOS that is actually not a definition of pro. It stands for professional, which in turn means: following a line of conduct as though it were a profession. Or in other words, doing something as if it were your job...because you get paid to do it.

Is your only job in life to play colony? No, it's not.

Then it should be in the skill game section?

But as far as pro goes, Colony is very easy to learn how to play 'ro'. All one person needs to do is to learn the strategies and counters. There is a little skill when it comes to microing, but the one lane really makes that easy.
