This kind of speaks for itself, but i'll explain my point. During the past hundred years or so, teenagers are reaching physical maturity faster than they used to, this is due to the artificial hormones and supplements in foods and drinks. This is becoming a problem in the views of some because you have physically mature people with the maturity level of a 13-14 year old or less. This has led to issues such as teenage pregnancy. Should we as a society adapt to this new change in human development or should we take out those hormones which are now an intergeral part of our business, food industry and drink companies? This is a very diverse subject so bring in anything you think supports your view or whether or not you even believe this to be true.

i think that it would be easier to just eat more natural foods than change a deeply ingrained system of corporate byzantine politics. the legal battle would take sooo long.

Mental Maturity may be never achieved.

I think it's not as much of a problem right now but it could become a VERY big problem if it keeps happening. E.g. kids getting pregnant at even younger ages, etc, etc. (NOT THAT IT IS ALL ABOUT PREGNANCY AS STATED EARLIER)

i dont know wernt people a lot smaller a long time ago mabie it is just natural to man kind

What does that have to do with this topic?

i think that it would be easier to just eat more natural foods Well, these days THERE ISN"T ANY, and a lot of natural hormones come from plastics, you know how under most plastics there is a recycle image with a number, well 1,2,3,4,5 are good, but 6 and seven can release Estrogen when heated (WTF?!) kinds of these plastics are in drinks such as gatorade and powerade

Haha too bad for you. In my country there's a lot of natural food and the fact that my mom forces me to eat those darn veggies.

Sorry for double posting but I had to say this things;

Dude, even if a girl eat sharks or whales or something, it doesn't make their period faster (I think) because those period stuff, they come naturally. In my country there's even girl's that started to have period at the age of 9. It's a normal thing.

Dude I totally agree with you on the teenage boys being perverted. Don't think I'm a girl or something just cause I'm saying that teenage dude's are pervert's. I've seen some of my friends talking about sex and stuff. In fact, I sometimes talk about it too. There's even some who would go beyond the boundaries even though their just like what? 9? 10? And go to the internet and watch porn. Believe me.,there are. And how surprising, girls talk about it too. Girls show the middle finger to boys, girls swears and stuff. This thing had become a daily part of our petty life and I think it's kinda like normal to me.

I'm quite disgusted with the lack of basis for nearly all of the arguments formed here. People please think about what you write! You can't just state one opinion after another while superficially passing it off as fact. For example, on what basis is maturity levels decreasing?

Jeol, what makes you think most teenagers do not realise the problem with teenage pregnancy?

Also, how can anyone find fault for an adult cracking jokes? The issue is more concerned about people's sense of responsibility is it not? I would consider myself gifted if I could still crack jokes at the age of 80.

Kasic, you say illegal immigrants disrupt the economy somewhat. Thats a very vague claim with no basis. In my opinion, tax dodgers have more of a negative impact on the economy that illegal immigrants who may find work. Also maybe you would think differently about poor people and your idea that all of them squander money on useless items like beer if you spend some time living poor yourself? I've had to survive on a meal every other day at one point in my life and tend to my sickly mother who had spent most of her up time working in order to support me on her own. Ofcourse I'm not looking for any sympathy here, thats all in the past. But I mean, it would have been great to have received a little money to help make meals more often and allow my mother to rest more, but I guess my mother would have wasted that money on beer anyway. Poor rich guys having to earn all the money they spend.

Sorry for going a little off-topic there. Indeed the use of artificial hormones on everyday products have been on the rise and this may have adverse effects on peoples growth and behavior, but there is no clear evidence for this, and as such these ideas are merely speculations. You have to think about what other factors may be affecting the younger generations behavior instead of just the presence of hormones in some products. Perhaps the rise of pop culture and the increasingly 'mature' content in their songs.

I've read several articles on animal mutations caused by certain hormones found in everyday products, I believe that is why governments generally regulate the content of products to ensure that they are safe for use. You just have to trust that your government is properly looking after you and that you won't turn into the opposite gender by using everyday products.

Sorry to sound old, but I fully agree with this.

I also believe the increasing mature way in which we treat our children is leading to decreased maturity. We dress our 7 year olds in high-heels and hot-skirts, let them have their own phones and make-up. All of these things started out as adult things and we now decorate our children in them. Then, they lose their childhood - their chance at being a normal kid that plays out and climbs trees - they become computer addicts, no longer seeing the point in leaving the house when there's a whole virtual world inside. So, they stay in - dressing as adults and using adult things but they aren't mature because they didn't really go through a childhood. The point i'm making is that - without a childhood, a chance to be free and be a kid, a person can't really mature because they have nothing to mature from.

You say 7 years old wear high heels. I've seen a 4 year old wear high heels but that was because of the little girl wanted to. The phone thing, it became a normal day-life nowadays and well, people don't give a crap if even a kid having a phone. That's normal for them. Plus, some parents are overprotective of their kid not letting those kids to play outside which make them an addict to technology. I know I am but my parents always let me go outside but I chose not to and become a laptop addict because some people think It's fun and OK to mock fat kid and blame them for their wrong-doing (OK now it's a little bit personal) but the point is, some kid like to stay inside and use their computer/laptop and not go outside. You say that, kids dress as adult but that's because their parents who bought those adult-like clothes not their fault. If they taken a liking to it, so be it. They have their own taste of clothes. Just make sure they don't wear those adult-like clothes too excessively until they where mini-skirt with a T-shirt that shows their belly button or such. You say kids who wear adult-like things and stay in their house don't go through a childhood but what if they live in an environment that is dangerous around them so they have to stay inside of their house, safe from almost any danger. They could just use the technology to have cyber-pals that is around their age. I know I have some of those friends. Some are on the same country and some are foreign. They DO have their childhood only on a different way. They can mature because of today's education system. Just hope they don't over-mature and well you know how it goes.

Well...everybody matures physically. While mental maturity comes at a certain point in ones life regardless of age, or sometimes never comes at all for some.

I believe Physical Maturity comes after the mental maturity.

I may not always be 'mature' but since the age of 12, i was very switched on, alert, and was around a lot of older business men & women, i adapted to the business world, my parents have run several big businesses and worked from home a lot as well, so i grew up a mature household. So I adapted to it early on, followed by my physical maturity. However you may see physical maturity, i see it as your bodies growth, and the actions of which you take. I for one was already down a GYM at 12 Years old, i had started with the basic running machines and lifting small weights, coming home from School, then going to the Gym, then coming home and being around work. Mentally and Physically i felt like i was an adult already.
by the age of 14 i physically built my own design company over in Cyprus, and i am now 18, with a step-son, a potential toddler on the way, a chain of restaurants slowly being built, & about to go buy my first house (put a mortgage down anyway) and by next year am considering a nice new car.

Thats my interpretation of physical & mental maturity tho, how you look, how you take on the world, what actions you go along with, how you think and how you feel, how you mentally cope with life and it's struggles, something of which i played out anyway.
