....and to get a sort of hope to have a period after death. Religious leaders stuck "be good and you'll live forever" into the text so they would have support for their religion, but it also gave the religious some faith. The best outcomes are the most sought after and popular, yes?
I can see why there's a stereotype about atheists always being depressed going around now. Anyone that would look at Atheism that isn't one themselves would probably like to look towards flat death
It may look like that to a theist, but the way I see it is, atheists don't have to be happy about tomorrow to be happy about today.
If I was atheist I guess it would be kinda like going to sleep just no more awareness.
Since I'm not (Agnostic) if god decided to show him/herself then I'm hoping I would be able to enter into Heaven/Nirvana/Swarg whatever...if not "It is What it is"
Actually, when I die, I don't want to be buried or have my ashes spread or anything like that. I want to be a big ball of meat that bees can buzz around and eat, and feast on my liver and rot out my teeth and chew on my eyeballs until I am deceased when I die.

But, also, in a way, what if there is no heaven and hell? What if, you shut down like a computer, and that's that. No afterlife, no living in heaven or hell. Just, blank. Because, sometimes, my mind wonders, what if this is just a fictious belief created by humans long ago, to have something to hold onto?
we cant grasp that concept. At least i cant. The only thing i could think of being dead is like, is sleeping. Where your totally unconciouss, yet your having "Dreams". But the difference is you know your gonna wake up.

You wouldn't have any dreams if your brain is dead. Despite what Disney says, dreams come from your brain, not your heart. And even if they came from your heart, it would be dead, so you wouldn't be able to have any dreams.

What Somers, didn't read my post? hahaha
No, being dead means losing all 5 of your senses and your mind, and not even knowing that you're dead when you die. Death is an instantaneous shutdown of your body and all of a sudden, well, dead. You just lay there wherever your relatives or whomever take you and stay there until you're one with Terra for.all.eternity.

Haha that is true when your dead. That made me laugh by the way..
But what about your soul/conscious? Ever thought about that?

There is no such thing as the soal. Conciousness is in the mind, the mind is in the brain, the brain is in the body, when the body dies your brain shuts down, and the formor abstract things go away...

So what your saying is once your brain is shut down, your mind just.. what? What happens then?

To put it in simpler turms, it "shuts down". The mind is just how we discribe the thought process that is chemicals and electricity, once that goes away the mind ends. There is no more thinking. Its more like being knocked out then sleeping, you don't dream, you don't think, you don't feel. Its nothing.

Such a terrrible ending. How do you know what happens when you die though?

Ever wonder why a dead man cannot talk, breathe, or move? Your body just lost the part about living. When you lose oxygen flow to your body, that's it. There is no more "ower" to your body, and its essentially useless. There's no more using it anymore when you die and when it undergoes rigamortis.
Such a terrrible ending.
Yes it is. And it is the truth, as is for us and the rest of other animals.
