Welcome to the Winter Armatar Contest! This is not going to be restricted towards Christmas. Entries for other winter holiday celebrations are also encouraged! So if you celebrate Yule, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc., or just like snow, feel free to submit an armatar about it so long as it fits the winter holiday theme. This has a wide range of possibilities!
You can submit your own original armatars to this thread following the theme of the Winter. If it meets our quality standards, I will add it to the 1AP armatar section for all members to use! You can reference previous contests for a better idea of what this is all about here. You can also check out a few select returning Winter armatars from 2009 in the 5AP section.
There are some guidelines, and unless your entry follows these set of rules it will not be accepted.
GUIDELINES: 1. Must be appropriate. Cannot be offensive or profane in nature. Try to keep it clean! 2. The entry must be square, and at least 100x100 pixels in dimension. 3. Must scale down well to 100x100. So if it is larger, make sure that it will still look good when it is scaled down to armatar size. A few suggestions about this: - Sometimes simple is better. If you go into a lot of detail, it might not look as great when you scale it down. So just keep in mind what the final size will be. - If you are able to do vector, that can help with the sharpness of the image. However, since they are so small this probably isn't a big issue. 4. Must be completely original. You cannot use elements from other piece of artwork, the entire armatar must be 100% original. 5. Must be Winter themed.
Good luck! And I look forward to seeing some awesome armatars =)
True that, but these contests only started last year! It's time to expand our holidays/events! Expaaand...
Two holidays are missing between winter and spring: valentine's day, and St.Patrick's day. I could have fun with either one, especially since I have the joke of a leprechaun with a gnome in my mind...

I'm not sure if I like that St.Patrick's Day idea. As far as I know, it's only celebrated in USA, Canada, Argentina, Ireland, UK, Australia and in New Zealand. I don't know much about the holiday myself, either.
And Denmark, by Danes who like to drink. And wear green. Valentine's day is not that celebrated either, really. And is just made to make singles feel bad about themselves, recently broken up couples feel even worse, and then score all the money of the couples. It can fit under spring with some lovy images > >

those are one-day holidays that dont get much hype. halloween and christmas are celebrated for basically the whole month, but st patricks day and valentines day are forgotten the next day.
The next one will probably be a Spring Contest. I will consider allowing other holidays to be added in with the Winter ones, if not making a new one. But St. Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day don't tend to be as big of holidays. Mostly consumerist holidays just trying to make money off of people ;-P Although I guess that is what most holidays are about this day. lol.
