i listen to real metal anyways. im sort of into attack attack and devil wears prada and bring me the horizan but thats about it

screamo bands like borkencyde. i cant stand. i have limits you know on the amount of gay i listen to lol

None of the music mentioned so far has been Emo or Screamo, lol. Emo was a branch-off from punk that evolved and died in the late 80's, and Screamo was a branch-off from hardcore punk and Emo, that emerged and died in the early 90's.

Most of the bands mentioned have been Metal (props to those of you who got it right...), metalcore, and Nu-Metal *gags*.

dream theater isnt even barly metal let alone screamo and i am going to say this now if you dont like anything obove metal or punk or somthing more hard core than hard rock than dont post a reply/comment because i didnt start this topic/conversation to here a bunch of people complain about how they dont like real music they just regular rock and i tried to make this as least offensive as possible so you didnt have to respond to this if you dont like the kind of music that were talking about just keep that comment to your self -Pr

The amount of misinformation in the beginning part of this thread is scary. Only one or two people have got it right, really. Screamo music is more like I Would Set Myself on Fire For You and I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism in your Yearbook, not Disturbed. Disturbed doesn't belong anywhere near a music thread of any kind >_<

Anyway, I have a diverse and distinctly underground taste when it comes to metal music. I have a fetish for avant-garde stuff.

Diablo Swing Orchestra, Sigh, Cynic, Atheist, Kamelot, Moonsorrow, Agalloch, Eluveitie, Mirrorthrone, Opeth, Sunn O))). I'd highly recommend all of these bands. All of them show skeptics that there's a lot of metal music with fantastic musicianship and such. I'd recommend Cynic and Kamelot to anybody, DSO, Agalloch, Sigh, Mirrorthrone, Atheist, and Sunn O))) to an adventurous metalhead, and Moonsorrow, Agalloch, and Eluveitie to a person who likes melodeath, post-rock, black metal, folk music, folk metal, or any music that doesn't suck.

Why does everybody hate Nu Metal so much? Yeesh. I understand it's a matter of personal opinion and all but the hatred against it is unbelievable.

Oh come on, it's not THAT bad. I will admit that some of the bands went into Nu Metal simply with a goal of making craploads of cash. Some of the earlier bands though did actually have some good stuff and were really quite experimental at the time.
