Thats realy annoying cus i hate hiphop and rap and they hate my music(screamo, heavy metal) and what made them listen to that annoying music? They can get furious cus they hear that i listen to what i do. Does anyone here know what have happened?

My great-grandma complained that my grandma listened to secular music. My grandma complained that my dad listened to rock n' roll. My dad now complains that I listen to Metal, and that my sister listens to rap.

Why are people so afraid of new music? I personally don't like rap, pop, or hip-hop, but I tolerate it. I don't complain that it's destroying our youth, because it isn't. But somehow the next generation will complain about the next type of music that comes out. It's absurd. Get over it.

Rap is generally very conceited. I can't stand rap, because I want to bash the bloody git's face in with a bat. Then you have stuff like the Stanky Leg, which is plain stupid and sounds like it's being rapped by a bunch of mentally retarded grade school drop outs.

I'm not really a fan of rap and hip hop in general, but I can listen to anything that isn't degrading to the listener. There's more rap coming out that isn't bad because it isn't so conceited and stupid. Hip Hop, I just don't like the style at all.

People hated rock because it was about having sex and often doing drugs. Now people have accepted drugs and sex to be normal. I think rap will always be looked down upon by many people until it starts changing into something less conceited. However, I doubt rap will ever become the next big thing in music, at least not bigger than what it is now.

To be completely honest, I don't like music at all. I own no iPod, Walkman, or mp3 player. Music has no effect on me at all. When I listen to people talk about movies, and how great the soundtrack was, or about how the producers can control people's emotions with music, I call them on it, as I don't get anything from the music, most of the time I just ignore it. Also, I've yet to ever get a song in my head without me wanting to, an example being me listening to Rick Roll for 20 mins straight to Rick Roll people IRL.

I really don't dig on the rap, hip hop, pop or screamo. I think its gay and not the good kind of gay (Queen, Priest, Elton John). I don't really get angry that some people like it. I'll rag on 'em but, that's as far as i take it.

I think certain types of music can put certain types of people off. I'm not gonna blast Dead Babies by Alice Cooper when there's a bunch of women with their kids around. Certain genres of music will attract some people and repel others.

I don't understand how people can like mainstream rap. I feel like they don't even like it, it's just 'cool' to listen to it.

But just like everything cool at the moment, it is a fad. And what happens to fads? They fade out.

I don't like much rap, but if they like it it's their right to hear it. I don't think that it's a problem that they like such music, though is a fact that the music you hear shows many things about your character.

I hate rap... Always have. That doesn't mean I going to demean the ones who do. I love alternative, rock, and metal. I can play the drums, well I used to. And I'm learning bass. Music plays a big part in my life. It's influenced a lot of who I am.

what made them listen to that annoying music?

They probably think that your music is annoying.

I just turned 13, and I have not realised any diminishment in the popularity of metal or rock - people are just more selective about what bands in them genres they will listen to. Metal (being the origin an eclectic number of sub-genres) can be liked by those whom frequently listen to mainstream rap and R'n'B. Give some nu-metal, or rap metal to a member of the youth you describe, and they may find it tolerable - if not mellifluous.

There is certainly no corruption caused by it, and they have full right to listen to what they enjoy (although sometimes it's obvious they don't enjoy the music for its music), likewise, you have full rights to listen to what you want.

Here, it's almost like a claim that metal is the perfect and only good music form. They could ask - with an equally bashing tone - why you listen to that annoying music called metal.

I do not really like rap, but I don't think you have any rights to come to some forums and make a pretentious thread about how you hate rap, and in comparison in comparison to metal is annoying.

The funniest thing about this thread is that the maker is a kid.

Rap, pop, and R&B have become mainstream. Metal has been pushed aside. Now only the weird hot topic fruits listen to it and it's not the good kind of metal.

I really doubt anyone who listens to rap would like metal. I'm definitely not gonna blast Symphony of Destruction while I'm driving around the South Side. I mean I like NWA and Run DMC but, that's not what these young people are listening to. Its all about peanut butter and jelly cars.

On a side note... what kind of 13 yr old uses the word mellifluous? Please tell me you have one of those "Word of the Day" calenders

True, but that does not mean people do not enjoy it - it just means less people show interest in the various metal sub-genres. :|

I doubt the majority of the youth that this thread is concerning cares about what the music is about and if there is any real profundity in the lyrics, the listener(s) couldn't care less in most cases. As long as it sounds good to them they like it.

And I am not a big fan of Megadeth, so I would not be playing Symphony of Destruction anywhere. :P

I dig the song Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen and there's nothing profound about the lyrics the dude just likes fat a**es. Most people don't care too much about the lyrics no matter what the genre. Rap, as of late, is just repetitious and bland.

Au contraire, a decline in interest almost always correlates to how many people enjoy it.

well i think using big words is superfluous

I think people just use big words just to make them self sound older/smarter. Usually it fails and just makes them look arrogant and that they are capable of using a thesaurus/dictionary...
