Lately, I've been thinking about this. As it's been proven that all people come from one zygote, completely chemically/biologically, do people really have souls/spirits? I believe that God created the Earth and Adam/Eve, and gained the conclusion that they definitely had souls as God directly created them. And if they were the only ones with a soul, does that mean they were the only ones truly able to communicate with God? Another thing to add might be 'What is a soul, exactly?' or 'Do you believe that life is just more than chemicals?'
If you believe that, then listen to this. Adam and eve could not have been the only 2 humans in the world at first. One, evolution has proved that it takes millions of years for a species to split, and also, the gene pool between two people is not large enough to sustain a population. There would have to be more than 2, thus meaning that either the bible was wrong in god created only 2 people, or that adam and eve were just fictional.
omg i hate haters!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i believe we do have a soul. being a christian and all other religeons pretty much do.
but if you were to ask me as a person and not a follower of the christian faith then id probably tell you that there has to be somthing that makes us tick and emotions are one of them. i think our soul is what makes up who we are in a sence it could or could not be there. its sort of not really a "thing" but a symbol the soul is a symbol for who you are its not a seperate thing from you
Nah, you're just applying more force. Weight = Mass x Force. So generally, weight is just our mass multiplied by gravity. By pressing down, your increasing the force, making it greater than 9.8 (gravity).
That's true. But there's also the possibility of them using a hydraulic scale. Anyways, this thread isn't about physics and stuff.
Interesting view delo. So are you trying to say that the soul is the emotional representation of the person? If that's the case, why would God even bother giving us an abstract concept to control our emotions when he already gave us our brain?
Well thanks Silent, what I learned in school is becoming rusty (don't use it you lose it).
But like Deth said, you can't really weigh a dead guy on a regular bathroom scale lol.
Uh, I don't have the pictures to show right now, but I know there are 'supposed' pictures of recently deceased people having a cloud like mist over them. Some speculate that those are the souls, might be interesting to look up...

yeah it could be a soul or just light from the camera reflecting off of dust or an error when developing the picture
The soul does exists, every religion tells you that you have a soul, if thats not enough, pilosophy confirms that souls really exist.
Both of which are unprovable.
Ps. Distribution of weight would not matter to a scale unless that thing could not fit onto the scale and sagged down on the sides, relieiving some of the weight. A pound of feathers is a pound of feathers, whether or not they are in a giant pile or a small bag. The "hotos" could also be easily photoshoped or a glare/reflection off of airborne moisture.
I don't believe in it. There is no scientific evidince, and there is plenty of evidince that the situations and genes affect how you act, not any soal. We are just chemicals... Chemicals built for survival
Well of course "soals" don't do anything... The soUl is just an eternal part of a person. Although I do agree with him on nothing as of yet proving it.
I believe humans don't have souls. By saying that alone, I say that I don't believe in ghosts, since ghosts are the 'souls' of the deceased. We are just a lot of chemicals mixed over millions of years to create a cell, then multiple cells, then animals, and finally humans. We do what we do because of brain cells, and only because of that do we have emotions.
I think humans, collectively, need an idea of being somehow attached or related to a higher authority relating to 'Good'. It keeps you within your boundaries. You've probably seen cartoons (or something) that relates to a man selling his soul to the devil. That is selling your Good for Lust; it's looked down on by many societies as being 'unclean' thus you being afraid of your soul being tainted. Not so far off from being a fear inducing object in a church's arsenal.
You need to feel special and some form of GroupThink.
