This is a message to everyone, not only the atheists.

Look what religion does for the world. Most of it makes the world a better place. I'll use my own religion as an example, LDS. Look what it does for the world. It tells

Belieiving in god, is better than belieiving in nothing, at all? Right?

No... I can't think of any way.

Aithiest are normal, you act like there emos who sit around waiting to die. Aithiest are normal, you coulden't tell if one was just walking down the street. Aithiest know the truth, it doesen't make them depressed. They just live life more, instead of spending thier time serving an immaginary friend.

Nor a religious person, unless wearing a symbolic item.

Aithiest know the truth, it doesen't make them depressed.

Religous people know the truth, and it makes them happy

They just live life more, instead of spending thier time serving an immaginary friend.

Better then serving the voices in other peoples heads. If somone listens to the voices in there head they are called crazy, but if you listen to the voices in somone who dies thousands of years ago head then your riligios.

Honestly, can't we just all get along?
Anyway, on the subject of "then what's the purpose", do you really need a purpose to live? Just live, you live, procreate, die, next generation does the same thing. Arguing that religion is necessary because there has to be a purpose to it all is completely invalid. Nothing requires a purpose.
Back to the subject of the thread, I do believe that religion has caused several wars. Look at the crusades. I'm also quite sure that people were frequently, and I mean very frequently, killed for having a certain religion, not having a certain religion, challenging a religion, or being rude to important members of a religion many times in the past. Religion is also the cause of plenty hate crimes nowadays. There's not really a true need for it, as most teachings in religion are mostly only obeyed by the people who would live by such rules anyway, and the rest are either not in a religion or just don't care enough. Using myself as an example, I'm not following any religion yet I've been called the nicest kid at my school. Nicer than the religious ones. Honestly, it boils down to the person and not religion. Now, I'm not trying to diss religions here. I'm perfectly fine with people believing in a deity. I'm not even saying there aren't any (nor, however, am I saying there are any). All I'm saying is that for one thing they should be less focused on what other people do and more focused on telling their current members to live in a peaceful and harmonic way.
Anyway, that's just my two cents. Feel free to argue the heck out of me and smite me with thy divine powers all thou wishest.

Then what are we working for if we don't even remember, keep, or get to enjoy what we did?

To have a positive impact on the people you love, your friends, community, and even people you don't know?

If that's not reward enough, then I guess you *do* need to be bribed with eternal paradise.

I would prefer to learn the truth then live a lie, even if the truth hurts. I would love it if there were some sort of afterlife where I'm reunited with all my loved ones who have since passed on, but based on what we know this seems unlikely to be the case.

I'm not sure what your getting at here

To both of you no. atheists <--(please have a close look at how it's spelled 314d1) don't necessarily know the truth. All we can do is look at the evidence at hand and come up with what is the most likely possibilities from it. We could be wrong we could be right. theists believe baseless claims and often follow them blindly disregarding or even manipulating evidence so they can continue to believe those claims. That does not give you the truth at all.

Religous people live life. While non religous people serve only themselves

I beg to differ atheists don't have the threat of hell if they do wrong or the bribe of heaven if they do right.

We have remarks such as Alpha's.
Then what are we working for if we don't even remember, keep, or get to enjoy what we did?

It would seem to me it's the theists going out doing things for selfish reasons believing if they do so they will be rewarded with heaven. The only motivation an atheist has is knowing they have help others.

Religion unfortunately very often divides people, but there is no doubt that religion has offered some positive things to humanity, which could have been easily even more.

The writings of Tolkien and Robocop come to mind as positive things.

Always the people divides the people, the nature does not divide, but unites.

Also, Europeon missionaries spread disease amoung the native Americans. This is the greatest genocide in the history of mankind.
