I don't like the idea of having the outcome of the biggest contest on the entire site being in the hands of one person. Think of it this way:
Write a movie contest. Need I say more?
As long as a judge is fair, it will just lead to unnecessary trouble to go through days and days of judging, because if it ends up like ALL the contests with multiple judges I have seen, it will takes days and the outcome will be
"This is great. 10/10"
"I think this might need a bit of colour, but otherwise great. 8/10"
"5/10"
The point is, if the entire competition is based on one person's particular taste
Never been a problem. Oh, wait, once, but that was because only one had actually drawn the theme, so that is not even related.
the entries will not be as diverse
Seriously, check the ASC, the fakemon contest, the pokemon contest, even check the haiku contest, the poetry contest, the short shory contest, and tell my if you see diversity, because if you don't, you are insulting all the artists.
the purpose of having an art skills contest will be defeated.
Why haven't you reported the ASC as being useless from the beginning then? It has always been like that from the start, no one has complained or found it unfair, they have had a great time and fun drawing, which is the
purpose of the ASC. It is not to win, it is to have fun. And to improve, if one care to listen to advice.
So unless you can come up with a reason that multiple judges is a good idea based on this site and not that a TV show that needs a diversity of judges for the personality of each of them, to make people watch it, then I really see no point. Not with the trouble it will involve. Then I would rather ship my studies to judge.
