well if any of u r familiar with the law of conservation and mass, then u know that it states that matter cannot be created from nothing, or completely destroyed. so evolutionists say this, then turn around and say the big bang created the universe as we know it. WTF!!?!?!?!the universe went from non existent to existent in a fraction of a nanosecond! and where did the bigbang come from? nothing? nope, because if the law of conservation and mass is true, then the bigbang isnt. simple...

I come from a very religious family, of whom I am the only atheist, and I'm talking a big ass Greek family, know what I'm sayin'? So yea, I totally understand the comfort thing, I have seen it first hand my whole life. I went to church as a kid. I gotta say, the sense of community was very nice, but the bottom line for me is, that unless there is evidence for something, why should I believe it?

i suppose the big bang, but that doesnt deny the creation theory in full; the big bang may have created the earth but i dont believe it created life

No one is saying that the Big Bang created life. Life evolved. Nothing was created directly as a result of the Big Bang, but the particles were scattered out and began reacting with each other.

lol here is a mind blower...unless of course this has been addressed...if energy and matter are convertible, and thoughts are a form of energy, then thoughts are also a form of matter...hmmm...I wonder if i could think a twinkie into existence.

Are thoughts a form of energy though?

That is the question...maybe...hopefully, i think it goes into that whole thing about positive thinking. Or, you could think about it in terms of this tribes religion, i can't remember which one, but they say you have a lower self, the physical body, middle self, the psychic mind, and a higher self, the spiritual or divine mind. During the day your physical body acquires all of the information that occurs, including what you think, do, what others do, your feelings etc. Then at night when you sleep, your physical self transmits that to your psychic mind, which translates it for your divine mind, and then your divine mind in turn creates your life for the next day. This is a continuous cycle...interesting. Or you know that thing "The Secret"? The one that oprah touts and all. I think that may be similar to what they preach...although I would hope that people don't just spend their time sitting around thinking really really hard about having a red corvette, in order to receive one.

Big bang was made by a nonreligious person for people who have no religion. Pure logic and physics tells us that the entire universe can't be created from nothing in a nanosecond.

Monsignor Georges Henri Joseph Edouard Lemaitre... OK Georges Lemaitre was the first to propose the idea ad he was Roman Catholic priest.

How about this theory:

The Big Bang created the universe, but God created life.

@petrovya: any evidence for that? It isn't a theory unless it's backed up by scientific fact, by definition.

They all had a part in it.

Just as by our logic it couldn't be created by a god. If we accept the laws of the universe we've discovered so far as true, a god is just as unlikely. That's the problem though. While science theory's are evolving with new evidence that is discovered, meaning that its changing to fit the evidence, religion remains the same. For thousands of years Christians have been saying the same thing (depending on which branch of Christianity), always staying the same. So while the theory on the big bang might change tomorrow due to new evidence and laws that are discovered, fitting the laws of the universe as we know it, Christianity still defies those laws. I doubt we'll ever get how we were created completely right, but at least with science its changing so that we get closer and closer each time we try to understand the mystery's of the universe.
Saying that a god created everything is an extremely simplified approach to something that's much, much more complicated than we could ever really understand. I don't like the idea of most religions (those that believe in creation) because it fails to appreciate just how complex life and the universe is. To me, it just seems way too simple an idea to really be correct for something that's pretty much impossible to understand.

God is the Creator and God created the Bing Bang, so yea, typically all three of them.

You know, in reference to the origination of the energy that started the big bang, it could very well have been the result of a few beings in another dimension or plane of existence that sneezed or had a party and drank too much, and vomited and poof, some of that energy broke through some fabric of existence and expanded and expanded and here we are....or not. Although speculation about it is fun, and eventually I think and mostly hope that science will be able to explain all things.
