Ultimately every emotion we have is the result of a biochemical reaction. Does that necessarily lessen the human or moral aspect of anything we do? I do not think so.
I too came to that conclusion long ago.
Gene's decide your physical makeup (the way you look). Not the way you feel.
Actually, I'm pretty sure they do, to some extent.
Genes control how EVERYBODY thinks. And to add another point, we are all gay to a certain extent. it is a proven fact. How can I prove it? You would not have any friends of your same sex if you were by no way means to any extent of being gay.
However. I beleive it is a combonation of both genes, and personal choices. Because, I have a gay cousin. And im Hetrosexaul, as I do have a female lover. So, the gene theory is sort of crushed. However, it does add to it. But, one thing to note, it dependso n who you ask. When I asked my cousin, he said he feels more comfortable with another man because he knows how the guy feels, since he is a guy, and girls scare him because he deosn't know what the hell goes through their minds, and plus he finds girl's annoying.
But whatever the case, it deosn't really matter to a certai nextent. Being gay deosn't really affect your personality unless you let it. Same as being a Heterosexaul. None of you guys are going to be like,(for males) IM A MAN, I GROW A BEARD EVERY TEUSDAY AND I SMEX WOMEN EVERY WEDSNEDAY. I GO JOB ON HILL. now as much as we like to, we do not act that way, unless you let it.
Gays are the same way. They may go happy go lucky lfiestyle liek they typically do, But I have seen some really tough, bad ass gays. No joke. They make Rambo look like a girl scout.
But whatever the case, back on topic .I believe Gays, are caused more by a personal choice, more then Genes. But genes do contro lit, as diffrent hormones are released. But of a matter of reversing, or inducing, That would probably lead to brain damage. Eithier way, as the Beatles lryics are "Let it be Let it be Let it be"
Well here is a question, if it is genetic and is present in humans, wouldn't make it plausible for it to be in other things that have genes...anyways just another question to see if theres any hint of truth, Which Chromosome is it located on?
And to add another point, we are all gay to a certain extent. it is a proven fact. How can I prove it? You would not have any friends of your same sex if you were by no way means to any extent of being gay.
This is a good time for me to ask you for your definition of "gay".
I think homosexuality happens when too much estrogen is produced in a male body or too much testosterone in a female body. it may not be genetic, and it could very well be reversable.
There is more to it then this though. hormones also effect us before birth while we are still developing. lack for a certain hormone and the brain develops more feminine or masculine then it's suppose to.
On the argument of "it's a choice", think back at what point did you choose your sexuality? Or did you just find yourself getting a rise out of one gender and not the other. We choose to act or not act on these feelings but we don't choose having those feelings. With such an overwhelming feeling as sexuality it can become unhealthy to deny.
I always thought of it as a personal choice, but your theories about additional hormones in the brain makes sense. But most gays enjoy being gay they don't really mind that sexual preference, do you think it's fuelled by a personal choice when they work out they've got a sexual attraction to males?
However . . .
they should just leave it alone...if there gay there gay
There is nothing from this "gene" that makes the human unnatural in any way.
Indeed. To exact it like it's some kind of science that heterosexuality is the correct programming is to misunderstand how evolution works. In some species, gender roles are incredibly strict because that's how they've evolved. In human and primates and others from our type of intelligence and abilities, such as dolphins or birds, all exhibit instinctual sexual overdrive in an attempt to provide at least a few babies into the world.
This isn't to imply that homosexuals are over-sexualised, but to explain that our sexuality is not really defined by gender, especially since we're mostly a tribal, group species. Monkeys mostly sleep around because they all live together in a giant family. We've done that same thing for a long, long time up until recently. Homosexuality is just an expression of the instinct of sexuality with less desire to procreate.
Realistically, not all gay men are necessarily just gay. I think even those who want to be realistic about gender can come straight with me on this one (pardon the pun), and it might help some homophobes understand what they don't like about homosexuals. The desire for men and the desire for women are two different dispositions which are both likely genetic in our current population simply because of gene saturation. That is, sexual desire between men and women not harmful to the tribe, especially since our tribe is so big that we've got no fear of extinction, and thus entirely gay societies can survive longer. Thus, eventually, a disposition towards both men and women exist, and some people end up enforcing one more with experience. So the great majority of people are just plain sexual, but their desire for love, which is evolutionary selected for in tribes. Thus, some gay people are simply oversexed, and so are some straight people. Both of them are pretty d*** obnoxious, and I'm more than willing to admit that, even though some people won't. However this does not mean that homosexuality is a symptom of oversexualisation, it just means that on some people's moral plane, people need to stop itemising sex. They mistakenly associate homosexuality with this problem, and that's frustrating. Gay is perfectly healthy and not evolutionarily unlikely or even bad.
Jive turkey! I find that word offensive! I will dropkick your head for that!
But most gays enjoy being gay they don't really mind that sexual preference
It could be a personal choice, but it isn't always an easy one if it is. Have you seen that Chuck and Larry movie? It isn't as easy as it looks to just decide one day that you're "gay" and keep that commitment.
