As I have seen, Armor Games is a hit around the world but many have limited language skills in English and that is sad because we are truly a global gaming community. A game is a game and doesn't need language skills but if someone wants to comment on a forum, they should be able to do it in their own language.
There are people in our community that are willing to monitor and translate if necessary, any foreign language thread. I would think that we should at least start with French, German (ha ha ha British...Just kidding... Dutch, Nordic languages and Russian. According to my information, there is already a Japanese thread on Armor Games outside your site which of course does not help you in the ad revenue situation!
It would be nice if Armor Games can change their coding such that other characters can be displayed other than normal english letters in UTF-8. This can be done by allow the use of the Alt key - possibly by changing the charset to something that will allow foreign letters.
My challenge thus is this, post to this thread in your own language. I can understand a few languages but the internet is full of translation programs (lame at best but effective) and get Armor Games into the multilingual mode - first ever in the gaming world.
The only ones that would make any sense are Spanish and French.
But the vast majority of us speak and write English fairly well. I would honestly get quite sick of looking at a hundred different threads that only 2 people on the entire site can even remotely comprehend.
Yeah, even if we lose 20 or 30 people, it's no consequence to having to spend time on programming a site that's already being shredded by programming as it is.
All I ever see is Spanish and German languages. Anything with characters and accents come up as blocks and strange boxes with numbers inside; this is a fault of AG's website and cannot be helped.
How would we be able to translate from a thread if we cannot see the full sentence? If we are to be able to do that, we must first tweak the website.
Translating sites are bad. Really. A lot. And this suggestion often ends with "AG = ENGLISH = NOT ANYTHING ELSE"

Det ville vaere dejligt hvis AG kunne aendre deres kodning saa andre symboler ud over de engelske bogstaver ville kunne vises i UTF-8. Dette kan goeres muligt ved brug af ALT-tasten - muligvis til at aendre et karaktersaet til et der kan anvende udenlendske bogstaver.
Min udfordring er saa denne: Post i denne traad paa jeres eget sprog. Jeg kan forstaa nogle faa sprog, men internettet er ful af oversaettelsesprogrammer (Oftest aandsvage, men effektive) og faa AG foert ind i et multilinguistisk stadie - som den foerste i spilverdenen.

Alright so...all in agreement? No translate until site doesn't get blocks and question marks, right? Dictionary.com's translating feature is pretty nice. It works even without accent marks! O_o
So I tried to make a link in greek earlier but now my link is gone with the wind. Anyways, in the message I was trying to say that I use Bing Translator for any foreign languages that I encounter. It comes in very handy since I can't really understand a word that people are saying when they are not speaking english.
Come on... Dutch?! I admit there are a lot of Scandinavian languages that have similarity with Dutch vocabulary (so do a lot of germanic languages), but that wasn't even close to Dutch! LOL =D
Als je echt wil zien hoe Nederlands er uit ziet als men het schrijft, heb ik hier een stukje text voor je om te vertalen! Maar ik moet toegeven dat de Google Translator inderdaad een slecht programma is om stukken tekst te vertalen. Als je losse woorden gebruikt gaat het best goed, maar zodra je grotere stukken tekst schrijft en ze vertaald, komt er een hoop flauwekul uit de vertaling gerold... De beste manier is nog altijd om gewoon meerdere talen te spreken en te schrijven, zodat je weet wat er geschreven (en gezegd) wordt door anderen! Veel succes met Google om dit stukje tekst te vertalen! *lacht zich kapot* XD

The word Dutch is similar to the word Danish. So I have had that one. Dutch actually is somewhat readable to Danes (juuuust a tad), especially anyone with some German knowledge. When I pronounce it in my head it sounds a bit like how Swedish sounds to me) for some reason. Especially the "So I know what he (writes)".
Exactly! That's what I use to understand a lot of languages that are not known to me! The phonetic sounds and slightly changing the words makes it very bearable to understand other languages easily, well that and the sentence comprehension of course! That's a big plus if you know how to do that! =D
I know what we could do. We could all learn Esperanto, then there would be no problem understanding each other, and there would be a little bit of each language in it. Orrr... We could keep to English, and thereby practice and become better at this somewhat international language, and thus actually be worth a lot more to international business, as long as it does not involve China.
Anyhow. This has been suggested in different forms for a long while. The reason it cannot become true is that while we have good members that might be able to understand said languages and monitor such threads, the mods should be able to understand it as well. We have had people swearing at us in other languages, or have to deal with users complaining about foreign flaming, and it would become more complicated to have to run it by a person who actually know the language to tell us exactly what has been said, instead of just asking people to keep to English, and follow the rules.
