As I have seen, Armor Games is a hit around the world but many have limited language skills in English and that is sad because we are truly a global gaming community. A game is a game and doesn't need language skills but if someone wants to comment on a forum, they should be able to do it in their own language.

There are people in our community that are willing to monitor and translate if necessary, any foreign language thread. I would think that we should at least start with French, German (ha ha ha British...Just kidding... Dutch, Nordic languages and Russian. According to my information, there is already a Japanese thread on Armor Games outside your site which of course does not help you in the ad revenue situation!

It would be nice if Armor Games can change their coding such that other characters can be displayed other than normal english letters in UTF-8. This can be done by allow the use of the Alt key - possibly by changing the charset to something that will allow foreign letters.

My challenge thus is this, post to this thread in your own language. I can understand a few languages but the internet is full of translation programs (lame at best but effective) and get Armor Games into the multilingual mode - first ever in the gaming world.

Merci, thanks, gracias etc

But the vast majority of us speak and write English fairly well.

maybe the reason is because (Duh) we only speak English here.
Armor games in characters and accents is even worse lol XD

Ouch, don't remind me of the one special Spanish icon that doesn't work here...

I know what we could do. We could all learn Esperanto, then there would be no problem understanding

Great, that would be fun. Except most of us can't be bothered to learn a no-origin language. Or want to for that matter...
the mods should be able to understand it as well

Don't a few mods speak different languages? Maybe not good enough, or not enough mods (One mod can't monitor the whole site...)
The only one so far that can be credible is dictionary.com/translate; they were right on the dot in most cases.

Who wants to go to another site every time they see Spanish or another language? Not fun, and a waste of time.
this

Just tried to translate some stuff. It worked out well for a change... But I found something that points out how bad Google is:

I translated it, pasted the translation, pasted that translation, and checked with the original text. They were slightly different( 'Rat' had somehow turned to 'Advice', a problem by Google).

I also saw a really crappy document once from Spanish to English (It still had Spanish words in it or random jumble of letters that couldn't be pronounced by a human).

And like I pointed out before, who wants to go on another site every time to translate something?

I know some German and Danish (for obvious reasons), but that is that. So non-English mods would be able to help out, but until now all we could have would be a Danish part > >
But, well, if someone wants me to translate something from English to Danish, or the opposite, I could do so. Zophia could too.

Men det ville selvfoelegelig ikke vaere optimalt.

this
Tried it and I translated from spanish to english "hola como esta?" and got "hola como esta?"... So google is out of the question... For now.
As for the Full Text Translator I did the same thing and got the same answer. Then I tried it in reverse. I typed in "Hi like this?" and got "Hola como esta?"...
NO BING! I put in "hola como esta?" And it goes "hi! Like this?" And I go NO NOT LIKE THIS!

And now I have the last laugh. Sorry Frankenstein.

Oh and I used Bing for this "Men det ville selvfoelegelig ikke vaere optimalt." and got "But it would selvfoelegelig not be optimal.". So I think a letter was missplaced. Bing is sensitive to spelling but you can usually make out most of the stuff thats being said (Unless someone is speaking gibberish).

Oe is the spelling of a letter AG does not support. Selvfoelgelig would be translated to "of course".

Emphasis on some I guess.

And I have never seen a danish person on here. Plus, I have a Danish friend who goes on a Danish site, because it's in Danish.

I don't that anyone could understand that one word... Unless they spoke that language.
Oe is the spelling of a letter AG does not support.

That would also be a problem when allowing Foreign language threads; allowing foreign symbols. They'd first have to change the site to allow that.

Yeah, German has never been my strongest language. I understand it somewhat, I can read it, but can't really communicate properly.
My usual mock excuse is "I spreche nicht sehr gut Deutsch gesprechen." Obvious mistakes are obvious.

Emphasis on some I guess.

Hello. Oh, and I should introduce you to Zophia too. If you meant other than us, well, I have seen a few once in a while, but they are not horrible active.

I don't that anyone could understand that one word... Unless they spoke that language.

Doesn't that go for many languages? I doubt most people would know Pferd would be horse, for example. And that would is still flawed due to it being spelled with an http://www.fest-tips.dk/clipart/bogstaver/thumbs/bogstav-t19028.png instead of the oe.
Also, that image was oddly hard to find.

That would be the thread from hell, an image-only thread. If the uploading isn't killer, the image loading would be...

I could imagine. But then again, if AG was actually going to be a multilingual forum, it would probably implement the different symbols. And there would be a lot less of the é and ñ and ø and stuff.

Alt + Tab always works, just saying.

If ANYTHING, I want the site to at least recognize the symbols and accents so we don't have blocks, numbers, and flying carrot marks everywhere on the screen.
