Are there any real life examples of merits that anyone wants to share? I've scoured the comments section of the games in search of merit examples for a ridiculously long amount of time, and only found page after page of spam.

One of the purposes of Merits is to set examples for other posters. This is a somewhat improbable idea, as personally, I've never even seen an actual Merit, and I'd rather not spend another half hour searching through comments filled with spam.

If you find a noteworthy Merit, or have previously earned a Merit, please feel free to post it.

Balloon in a Wasteland has recently been gone through. If you go to the last few pages of the reviews, you will find a few that have been awarded. When you are looking for merits, always start with the oldest pages, not the newest. Because it could be that a moderator visited the game to award merits a while ago, but another one hasn't been through since to take care of what has been written since then.

I've written about 5, but alas, none were merit worthy. Either they were never found or they weren't good enough, but nonetheless, I gotta find a game that interests me and write another >

maybe everyone should calm down about merits - after-all you don't need someone to tell you that you have done a good job if you have tried your best. If you crave the merits for the armour points why don't you try out some new games, Rate them and leave a CONSTRUCTIVE comment?
You could also get involved with the community/forums.

Try submitting poems and other things in contests. That's a great way to win a merit. If you look back into this forum I created this same posting and Cenere gave me a great list of ways to win points and merits.

I have written many merit worthy comments. Mods must not be looking for them much anymore. Is there like a system that I'm not getting? I listed all the pros and cons, it took me over 30 minutes to make the review, and it wasn't that long. I don't get what's not merit worthy about them.

"I love it soooooooooo much! SOOO FUN!"
"10/10 AMAZING!"
"10/10. But really hard!"
- You.

I don't know what you are thinking, but neither of those are merit worthy. The latter two are actually spam as well as per the 7-words-rule, the first is spam as per useless-rule.
So I am not sure what you use those 30 minutes on, really.
Unless of course you don't do it anymore, you didn't want to make reviews for your favourite games or that you have been making more than one comment on those games, where as the newer ones were of above quality.

Merits are given. We do look for them.

Thanks for that, I didn't know if merits were being given out, but now I will go write some since you are giving them out.

Well, most guys expect their reviews (if they are good enough) merited within 3 days. Most of the time that is not the case. As there are only half a handful of mods lurking around the site, there are even fewer roaming the game comments spam busting and merit checking. Just a reminder: your reviews will be there forever and ever. I don't know how many pages a mod checks in one game to look for merits, but you would think a wall of text would be more noticeable than a sentence smaller than my pinkie. If you haven't gotten a merit from your review and its been over a month, you probably need to up the ante on how well you write one.

By the term Merit, I mean &quotosts that have been awarded Merits". Sorry if my AG terminology confused anybody!

We are always going through games. But the simple fact is, there are thousands of games, and few of us. So it definitely takes some time to find some of them )

If it helps, just remember that your reviews will be in the comments forever. I would definitely wait at least a month before "knowing" if a mod merited your review. If not, then perhaps you just needed to up the ante on how you write your reviews. Since there are merit guides around the newcomer's forum, mods DO have a high standard of what is and what isn't merit worthy.

Are games gone through multiple times for merits? If I wanted to write one for a game that was recently checked, would I still get it?

Of course! It's not like mods are robots that know that each other checked that game so they aren't going to check it for a long time. (or are they...) They have their own schedules, so while one would be checking one game, another may luckily check the same one and spot yours.

I have a theory...what mods do is that they quickly scroll down through the comments for any silhouette of a review; anything longer than 2 sentences would make their eyes twitch. Scrolling down through many pages, if they find one that seems to be a review, they will judge it. If they liked the review, then they will merit it. If not, then maybe that should fall on another mod for their opinion, or you should up the ante on how you write the reviews.

It's like a giant waiting game...except waiting is boring, so people complain when they don't get a merit within a week XD

I remember writing two or three back in November. They were just brushed off. If only I could remember the games...

Not me.. I just got a merit for a comment I wrote in November of 09 Lol.

Yeah well.. sometimes mods just don't check your reviews because they don't check that certain game xD

So if your lucky.. and it's a good review.. you might get a merit, if even seen xD
