Have you ever went to a store and wanted a game that you saw on T.V.? When you went to the aisles that had the game and then you looked below it and saw the price. When your parent or your self said [quote] (You,I) Can't get that it's too expensive. Please tell me why video games are so expensive
think of how much work goes into making a game? they need to program every single blade of grass and all the stats and online and stuff it takes FOREVER
They make games for the newer consoles just so you buy the console and game excuse what im about to say but **** the economy!
Well Zach, think about it. You already have this awesome new console and all the games that you have for it. 2 years later, a new console comes out. Do YOU think that your old console can play the refined games? I don't think so. They make games for the newer consoles so you could play something on the new consoles; Duh!
Demand for the older games gets lower and lower when enough people have the games and the consoles to go with it. New games have LOW supply and HIGH demand for it, so naturally, it would cost higher. Once enough people have that game, the price of the game would decrease. If you can't buy the game when it's just released, then wait. Eventually, when a new console takes its place and when older consoles cannot make enough revenue to cover the cost of actually making it, they stop production of it. So there you have it. Economics 101.

That doesn't take much time at all, compared to the actual programming of the game. They don't need to program every single blade of grass, just to program which texture is going to be placed where. They take brushes of the singular texture and wave it in places where they want "this piece of grass" or "this patch of dirt" to go.
Online statistics is only a matter of mathematical programming-- the easiest you could possibly program. Having online gaming even up requires a server, and that takes programming for telling it what tasks to perform. It just costs money to keep it up and running smoothly.
