What is it?

Terza Rima is a type of poetry consisting of 10 or 11 syllable lines arranged in three-line.

Example:

Ode to the West Wind by Percy Bysshe Shelley

O wild West Wind, thou breath of Autumn's being,
Thou, from whose unseen presence the leaves dead
Are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing

So here are the rules:

~Terza Rima's must be completely Original which means no Plagiarizing.
~There can only be 1 submission per user
~The same user is not able to win twice in a row
~Even if the same user who won can't win.. doesn't mean they can't enter
~Must be submitted before the actual deadline for the contest
~It has to fit the theme

This will always last 1 week.

The deadline is February 27th and most Contests will start on the weekend.

This weeks Theme is The Desert and I am still in the process of asking for a merit to the winners.

Have fun making Terza Rima's Lol.

By the way.. I'm looking for Judges. ;D

I'm a bit disappointed at the structure that you've set, because the meter is not essential to terza rima. Terza rima is a rhyming structure in its essence, not a metrical form.

I even researched it a lot. Every single one said A type of poetry consisting of 10- or 11-syllable lines arranged in three-line tercets with the rhyme scheme aba bcb cdc, etc.

So don't blame me if I went to like 12 sites and still the same answer.

Why is the rhyme scheme rule unenforced then?

I didn't enforce it at the beginning. I didn't want to.

But if you insist.

All Your Poems must be in the rhyme scheme of aba bcb cbc etc. That goes to everyone

Happy?

But yours still didn't fit the structure at the beginning.

It's a poem

Every verse or whatever contains 3 lines and the 1st and 2nd lines must rhyme(like at the end) such as aba bcb cdc As I've said.

It most contain 10 or 11 syllables in each line?

Explained enough?? x]

Why do you think they repeat a

The first and 3rd line rhyme.

aba, bcb, cbc, is rhyme scheme not a rhyme

example:

blah blah blah wire (A)
doh doh doh doh doh doh (B)
blah blach blah sire (A)

note how the last words of the first and third lines rhyme

Rolling in copious amounts of wealth
Controlling the lives of those with less power
Making those less fortunate tighten their belts

Hopefully this one isn't a total failure...

2nd Place ~ Gold

In the desert the criminals can go fast
As the straight desert miles stretch on forever
Luckily the cop cars are Lamborghinis

I love how this one made me laugh once I read the end, it put an awesome finishing touch to it, it might of not beaten moat's poem, but it was a very close decision.

Sweet! I like this better than haikus. This theme is hard

A rich family dies, a rich kid survives
A poor family survives, a poor kid dies
The kids must survive, to continue the chain
