So I was at school yesterday. Me and another guy got into an arguement, so he decked me in the face. I got up hit him back a few times, then a teacher broke it up. Now, I was suspended for 3 days. So was the other guy.

The only way i could of got out of suspension, was to not fight back. In my opinion, it was self defense, and i shouldnt be suspended for it. This 0 tolerance thing really pisses me off, first off because I should have a right to defend myself, instead of hiding in a corner, and being known as the pansy who is to afraid to fight back.

Any comments?

Zero tolerance is kinda stupid, but I think it should be enforced in some situations. One example, in my school I saw two guys beating the crap out of each other. It ended up with one guy on the floor with a broken nose and the other guy kicking him. The reason: some lame facebook insult. If people get into fights for such retarded reasons, they deserve suspension.

they should go back to the days where children got smacked with rulers for misbehaving.

How comes that 0 tolerance is enforced here too?

To keep children at the school. And for it not to be known as a fighting school.

I think 0 tolerance is stupid. I mean if someone came into your house and beat the crap out of you and you don't fight back (cant move) you're clear with the law but you can't move. If you attack back then you and the person get equal punishment. While you were using self defense.

That's just stupid. Do we really want to enforce this.

i herd of someone on the local news in my county she got suspended for 3 days for drawing on a wall... thats bad getting suspended for drawing on a wall i see detention for that, but 3 days suspension... getting into a fight is one thing thought, in my school no ones been suspended all year and there have been plenty of fights.

no, he gets punished for breaking an entry as well as fighting. if its your house you dont get punished for it. not if its in self defense.

I believe there should be zero tolerance for fighting, as for self-defense that's a whole nother issue, zero tolerance was made so nobody could sue the schools, and various other things that have probably already been posted.

Random thing about this: Ok so it was math class and I was getting out my homework when my friend David goes:

"Joe did you even do your homework?"
Mrs. Winkle (Teacher): Joe let's mind our own business please.

LIKE I DID SOMETHING! and then everyone around me cracks up..... any comments on that?

Yup, like Noname said, it's about the school, not you. People will jump to the sue button in a heartbeat, so they pretty much don't care if you were protecting yourself.

Which I think is ludicrous, honestly, they want you to take a beating you they can save a few bucks and blame the violence on video games.

Zero tolerance is in affeect here as well.

But something I found intresting. A few years ago, the priniple, Ann Sacars (or something to that affect) got into trouble with the police. This includes driving drunk, hitting an officer of the law, and other chrges.

She however, was not penalized by the school. She was instead PROMOTED!

She now has a job i nthe school district making twice as much a year. Tell me why zro tollerance didn't apply to her? Kids in our school who have gotten in troulbe with law have been expelled.

My school does this to and it's stupid. A person in my gym class was trying to beat someone up and and that someone was putting up his arms so that it wouldn't get hit. And both got suspended for 3 days. I'm tempted to just punch a teacher and if that teacher fights back they should get fired for fighting back. They just don't understand that if someone beats the crap out of you you ARE going to fight back.

The school would always take the side of a teacher with 0 to no evidence for anything i'll bet

Her actions were outside of school. She can't be rightfully punished by the school for something she did in no relation to the school.

My older brother was caught in something very similar to this situation, it has ruined schools honestly, 90% of the time(that is not a real statistic but probably accurate) it makes the schools worse by trying to make an example out those kids but the principal/school board puts a worse influence on the rest of the kids.
