I know that a lot (maybe even most) of the users here on Armor Games are American based, but I still would like to talk about the upcoming Formula 1 Championship this year!

Who is likely to become champion 2010 with the drivers?; Which team will be champion 2010?; Which rookie team will be doing great in 2010?; What driver will not fullfill the promiss to do great?; What's the best/most beautiful Grand Prix for this year's calendar of F1?; What Grand Prix would you visit if possible?; Etc...

So if there's anyone on Armor interested in this cool, fast and challenging sport... speak up!! =D

Massa's reaction was the oil that stoked the fires. Lifting off like that coming out of the turn... I'll never know whether Alonso really knew what was going on but it was blindingly obvious to everybody, hence now Ferrari have been charged with team orders, penalties ranging from docked points to outright disqualification from the season... I await the outcome of that with bated breath.

Hungary has just finished, and what a dramatic race! First, Alguersari's engine fell apart, spraying oil all over the track. Then the safety car was called out on lap 16, and that's when **** really hit the fan! First, everybody crowded into pits, and Kubica's lollipop guy let him out a second too early just as Sutil was turning in, and inevitably they went crunch! At the same time, Rosberg was leaving pits when his right rear wheel fell off and careened into the crews! What a crappy end for the race for those three.

Then just as the safety car period ended, Vettel somehow dropped back way too far and was handed a drive-through, thoroughly ruining his day in denying him what would have been a perfectly legitimate win, but happily (at least for me) handing it to Webber, who initially was thought to be stuffed after being the only driver not to pit during the SC period, remaining on the supersoft for a good 20 more laps. Yet in that period he completely blew the rest of the field away opening up a 21 second gap between 2nd placed Alonso before his crew gave him the perfect pit-stop, allowing him to leave and finish the rest of the race unchallenged.

This week's talking point, however, will definitely be Schumacher's (characteristically poor) conduct. That move he pulled on Barrichello on the finishing straight, approaching turn one was probably the worst move anybody has intentionally pulled this year (and IMO there have been a few clangers). The replay clearly showed that Schumi pushed Barrichello to barely 2 inches from the concrete wall, and at his trajectory, had the wall not ended where it did, he would have probably been a smear alongside it. As it was however, Barrichello was forced wide and onto the grass, and if Schumi hadn't finally jinxed back to the outside line at the last minute as Barrichello was swinging back, they would have connected and probably ended up in the tyre wall. That's nothing less than a 10 place penalty if you ask me.

Alright, that's enough from me. I'll be going to bed happy that for once, I managed to actually witness Webber win a race, and convincingly at that. He goes into the summer break leading the championship, as does team RBR... but as has been seen all the way through the season, anything can happen each week.

This 'strategy' of Ferrari is ridiculous! I really hate this team.. Massa is just another victim..

As Strop said, it was a pretty interesting race in Hungary. But Mark Webber blew the field away on tires that were only to last 15 laps. Webber went to around lap 40 before pitting.

The results:
_1 Webber - Race winner!
_2 Alonso
_3 Vettel
_4 Massa
_5 Petrov
_6 Hulkenburg
_7 De La Rosa
_8 Button
_9 Kobayashi
10 Barrichello

Sorry for the double post, but I liked to say a bit about the next race. The next race is the Belgian grand prix in Spa-Francorchamps. This race tends to have rather unpredictable weather and in the past couple of years, rain has fallen within the last few laps. If this happens again, then Spa will be one of the craziest races of the year. However, there isn't another race until August 29, so it will be a while.

Noooo, McLaren off the top spot in constructors championship and Hamilton down too :-(
Bad day for McLaren today, I hope they perform well in Spa, this is by far my favourite track in F1 and if Button and Hamilton can get a 1/2 to get back in the lead that would be great, wishful thinking maybe xD

it really didn't help McLaren that Hamilton had a drive shaft issue that forced him to retire from fourth place in the race. Button did finish, but was only able to hold on the an eighth place finish. Even one of the Saubers finished ahead of Button.

Yeah I saw it was unfortunate :-(
Well 2nd and 4th place overall still isn't bad and there are still quite a few tracks to go and many points to be had, UK need to win at some sort of sport xD
I'm hopeful for Hamilton to snatch the Championship... but Webber, Vettel and Button won't let him win it easy.. Alonso is climbing back up fast too.

The McLarens tend to be faster in a straight line, though they've curiously seem to have fallen behind the Ferraris, or rather, the Ferraris have caught up and then some. Their "total package" isn't hanging together quite as well at the moment and there's a lot of talk about the difference in the flex of the front wings, because Ferrari and RBR are doing superb and their front wings are like wobble-boards, whereas the McLaren's is rather stiff.

I don't think the RBRs are going to do better than 5-6 in SPA because it has some ridiculously long straights and apart from one tight section, a wicked hairpin and the chicane it's generally fast flowing. At this point I'm tipping Ferrari but the break can bring a lot of new developments...

Also, to confirm, from the official website:

Schumacher got overtaken by Kobayashi, then nearly put Barrichello into the pit wall while unsuccessfully fending off the Brazilian for 10th place on the 66th lap. For his pains he was awarded a 10-place grid penalty for Spa by the stewards, to go with the teamâs $50,000 fine for Rosbergâs unsafe release.

Ha, now what was that I was saying on the previous page? *smug*

On that note Kobayashi drove really well, as did Hulkenburg. No wonder Kobayashi was so annoyed after dropping out in qualifying.

I'm really happy to see that the thread is still going since I started it! =D
Really thought it had died out by now, but we have several frequent posters, even if the number is only 3! :P

And thanx for keeping up the statistic posting waluigi!

I missed posting about the Hockenheim GP, but other than Alonso having a blast with his win and (with that fact in mind) the Ferrari team making 'argumentable' actions, I think all is said about that race if you ask me!

About the Hungarian GP, the 'action' was in the strategies which turned out to be great for Webber, excellent drive for him and pity for Vettel that he was "sleeping" while the race got the green light after a safety car period, still a good effort for both Ferrari and the RBR's when you look at the championship standings! Can't recall when it was this close for some years... =D

I'm really looking forward to the next GP in SPA! Porbably a 'walk in the park for McLaren' if you ask me... Spa is one of the most beautiful circuits in my opinion and always guaranteed for spectacle and adrenaline, even if we only mention 'Eau Rouge'... that name gives me goose bumps! =D

To give people (who don't know the greatest turn on a GP circuit worldwide) and idea what 'Eau Rouge' looks like, I will post some pictures and video's of it!
Watch-and-'ah'! =D

That 1999 version looks even scarier. Like, really ridiculously scary compared to the big bitumen runoff it has now.

Once again the reason I know this corner is because it has been faithfully recreated in Racedriver: GRID, every bit as insane in the game as in real life. So very easy to completely lose it in so many places of that curve, it really is one of the most formidable curves in the repertoire. But if you thought it was hard going flat-out forwards, try doing it flat-out backwards!

That turn is crazy, and i've always had trouble with it in the F1 games I have. I'd say Spa in general is a crazy track. After the Eau Rouge, they have that incredibly long straightaway followed by some of the slowest turns on track (it seems that way). Plus, that first turn may be the second sharpest turn in F1 (behind the Monaco hairpin of course)

I remember there is a crazy accident, I think it happened in '98, on the second straight on the course.

Schumacher is very dangerous the FIA or whoever is responsible should take some measures or he will cause some accident.

I love hanging back and watching massive piles of dust and debris fly up as over-aggressive drivers pile up on that hairpin in GRID. Same with watching drivers wipe out on Eau Rouge.

The ten place penalty for Schumi is fairly severe, though justified... on a course like Spa though I do doubt that it will have that much significance. Either your car has the pace or it doesn't and even if he's placed behind Lotus, Virgin etc. he'll blast past them, just as he'll never be able to catch the Ferraris, McLarens, or Renaults.
