I know that a lot (maybe even most) of the users here on Armor Games are American based, but I still would like to talk about the upcoming Formula 1 Championship this year!
Who is likely to become champion 2010 with the drivers?; Which team will be champion 2010?; Which rookie team will be doing great in 2010?; What driver will not fullfill the promiss to do great?; What's the best/most beautiful Grand Prix for this year's calendar of F1?; What Grand Prix would you visit if possible?; Etc...
So if there's anyone on Armor interested in this cool, fast and challenging sport... speak up!! =D
Well, we've got some big news. The korean race is actually going to happen, after doubts from basically everybody about its running. As with most races now, this could be a big turning point in the championship. However, it appears that the championship will either go to Alonso or one of the Red Bull drivers. How will things pan out on a brand new circuit, tune in next week to find out.
MY MONEY IS STILL ON WEBBER. Because I'm Australian and it'd be nice to have an Australian champion after, like, Sir Jack Brabham. No seriously though I think he's the most consistent of the drivers and right now he's going to be playing it cool.
I actually think that both Webber and Alonso have the biggest chance. I think that the crashes that Vettel had at Turkey and Spa will come back to haunt him. I think Alonso will win if he keeps up his pace, but if he starts doing what he did toward the start of the championship, Webber would most likely.
In a little over 12 hours, Korea's first F1 GP race will begin! The track has been lauded as a success, with a mix of smooth flowing, tight and technical, and a huuuuuge 1km straight that gives every kind of configuration a chance to shine.
But as usual, Vettel's on pole and Webber starts in 2nd, somehow shutting out Alonso in 3rd and Hamilton in 4th. I have no idea how this race is going to turn out, or even if it's going to remain dry, for that matter!
To clarify... after Webber torpedoed himself into Rosberg, THIS is what happened since:
- Sutil is all over the place... flying off track, passing cars, flying off track and ultimately crashing into Kobayashi... 0_o - And get this... Vettel blew his engine!!! 0_o - Alonso now leads and is chased by Hamilton for the win! 0_o
Don't tell me it was over after Webber (unfortunately) crashed...
So yeah I switched the set back on after about an hour in time to see Sutil's accident-waiting-to-happen, actually happen. I also saw Petrov spear off the last turn into the pit wall, that was a huge off!
Again, I feel bad about this but I had a minor "OH GOD YES I mean oh no BUT STILL YES" when Vettel's engine spontaneously combusted a lap after he was saying "it's too dark to keep driving", only because that means that Webber only has to beat Alonso. Which is a tall order since Alonso is right in the swing of things, having won 3 out of the last 4.
I feel a little better knowing that some of my friends had no such reservations about saying "SUCKED IN VETTEL I HOPE YOU CRASH IN BRAZIL TOO!"
Also, yes, Schumacher did some fantastic driving, he was obviously right in his element from the word go and pulled some great moves. I was secretly hoping that Alonso would have a big off and put Schumacher on the podium because this would be one race he totally deserved it... but of course Alonso wouldn't do that now.
Well this DOES put the twist in things so from the excitement perspective, I'm still hanging onto the prospect of a Webber win, though I'd say his odds went from 1:3 to about 1:10.
Man what a race!!! The excitement is back, IN FULL, in this championship!!! Did it ever leave? =P
Not really. Well, I do like F1 World Championships. Well, it's actually a close game for the leads. It's going to be fast and furious with the next race. Like close to close, car to car, metal to metal, whatever. I just can't wait to see who wins.
Some stupid news was made on Massa being threatened by some lawyer with getting possible jail time for letting Alonso make a pass in the coming Brazilian GP... anyone heard anything about that?! 0_o
Sound pretty stupid to me! Can't imagine they would actually punish someone in this way for what they call 'fixing the outcome of a GP'... :/
The Williams did astonishingly well! Hulkenberg's pole position was a big surprise for me. Even Rubens Barichello qualified in a pretty decent position, sixth. Alonso, Webber, Vettel and Hamilton are all in the first places, so this will probably be a great and very interesting race.
This should be an exciting grand prix, with the title on the line. there is also expectation of rain, as there always seems to be. Plus, there's the added excitement of a non-title contender starting up front. Who will win? Find out tomorrow!
