Public smoking has become an issue over the past couple years and i'm here to settle this. I don't think this thread exists in this manner and if it does just let me know. Now I'm a person who hates standing somewhere and then suddenly being overcome by all this smoke in my face because the wind is blowing in my direction and someone is smoking the opposite. I absolutely hate this and "could" be harmful but that isn't the worst part, it is all that smoke in my face. Is that right to do? My grandfather said this about this topic "If your going to blow smoke in my face how about i come over there and fart in yours and see how you like it" he has a point there, now what do you people think on this subject?
I can enjoy it with alcohol only but a cigaret can do good too
Exactly. It's a social activity like any other. I quit, so it doesn't directly affect me, but I really object to the flat smoking ban in all pubs and clubs. It completely kills any social atmosphere if half the people you come out with leave for a fag every 20 mins. Voluntary bans as decided by the owner of each establishment, and the provision of non smoking areas = fine. A flat ban. That's patently undemocratic, and downright impractical. People smoke in pubs and clubs. It's just what people do.
I just have a problem with the second hand smoking. I don't care if someone smokes, but then i have to smell it in public or breathe it in, that's where my problem is!
I don't know anything about public transportation in other countries but here while I'm waiting at the bus station there is not a single spot where you can stand and not be affected by cigarette smoke, smokers are everywhere, like they are gathering at the bus stops. Anyway, my dad almost hit the bucket this year because of lung cancer. "Man leave that shit you're killing yourself!" I told him to quit like million times. Now he had to. If I ever catch my child smoking I'll have to use some good old domestic violence. Cigarettes should be banned, no good from them. And yes you smokers do stink!
Personally I think thats a little too harsh. What should be done is all the extras should be removed leaving just the tobacco, then it should be heavily taxed. That way its much safer for everyone and less common at the same time.
I agree with the taxing but i think they should be banned from the general public, i'm not aloud to walk up to someone and take a smoke machine and hold it in their face but smokers can blow that disgusting smoke in mine.
Well everyone saying it should be heavily taxed... It already is! At least in the U.S.... cigs cost like $6 a pack. I don't know how I could afford that !
It's too bad it's not just tobacco in them. That wouldn't be so dangerous!! Maybe they should legislate that. No more added dangerous chemicals? lol
