I just relized people have alot of stress in their daily lives and constantly worry about every little thing, argueing non-stop, hating each other, starving, deprived, animals are alway beaten, slaughtered and so on every second. (you get the picture) what if there was a national or a world-wide date for every body to die (kill themselves and or one another) I think that would be easier for all, you have no worries any more, doen't matter if you were late to work if you have enough time for something or somebody you love. There would be no war, no racism, and no body in pain (in thought and in body) What is your opion ? Why should or shouln't this happen ?

I would find it a bit tough to suicide. After all... humans are embedded with the impulse to survive rather than die. Your mind would have to be pretty racked if you were seriously considered to kill yourself.

I doubt even 1/3 of the human race would glady accept the death of themselves or any 1/3 of the other 2/3s.

Skipper, I understand completely what your going at here, but not everyone is in such pain. The people who are in pain cherish every moment they have with their loved ones, therefore they could not leave them. When you think of ways to better our world, you must step into a whole new realm where thought becomes an object. Everything in the living universe is run by an invisible, unknown force. We have all come to know it as the soul. Religion was the first the thing to emerge from this belief. People fall back into the absence of violence and hatred, which is the thought of one being creating every one of us and assigning each one a soul which characterizes everyone. A darker, less known kind of person is the being who creates violence and hatred, just to bring it to our world. In religion, people have come to fear these beings over time, and have transformed all of these people into one being, Lucifer, or the devil. God, was once seen as the good people who help, and cherish all living things. They lived in peace with good and evil. The evil that lived within didn't even know its own presence, until it started one single act of hatred, then another until leading to the death of another. You must understand, this is only animal instinct. We are all animals, simply adapted to advanced properties. With our ability to reason, the soul has been created, which starts the cycle of religion. I have come to understand, that there are few people who really understand these facts of life. I know you are one of these people, because of your title which reads, "Don't Read This (If You Are Normal), and also because I can tell you have also experienced the thought that surround the meaning of life. It's not hard to find it, you just need to look hard enough, even if it takes time.

Ennui, or malaise? Gee, I think we could have a debate on this one :P

But anyway, yeah...not many people would support the idea of voluntary suicide- which is why so long as it remains ostensibly 'voluntary', such things as suicide and armageddon cults are as spectacular as they are small.

I still say that any mass removal of humanity doesn't really solve anything. We can be just as much a part of the balance as anything else. I see no logic in any movement that wants people gone.

Well...let's ask this instead then. Who are we to stop them from leaving?

People who care about them? Dunno, if someone I knew or cared about tried to kill themselves just because this or that happened, something they could get through, I'd call them an idiot and make 'em move on. Heck, no one should die just for nothin.

No one should die just for nothing

Really?

I'm not trying to pick on people, or anything...just that you see a pattern in my questioning here right?

Why is everyone focused on the suicide part? It's not like everyone would have to put a gun to their head all on the same day. We could just stop reproducing. Perpetuating our species is only perpetuating the damage we're causing to the earth. Would it be right for us to not only cause our own extinction, but the possible extinction of all life on this planet? Who are we to condemn the world to it's end? We've only been here for a milisecond compared to the earths age.

Grimlok. We are CREATURES. Designed to survive. AS such, we will always be attracted to mates/ [Although theres a SERIOUS sex problem in the US, that has nothing to do with this]. Why should I not be allowed to have a family? Also, main leading life on Earth would fall. As we wont' be able to train new educatios. How akward would it be if science travels so far... and yet, there are no new kids to teach it to so they can't make any improvements?

everythings connected. Also, The world is way to sexually mature by now, with all the condoms and crap floating around, we could just simply have "Troubles" and it'll keep going.

Also, your right, over population kills.

*doubletake*

Okay, there's a good point- obviously it doesn't seem practically possible to have a global voluntary extinction movement. At least, certainly not voluntary. The notion is simply anathema to too large a proportion of people's way of life.

But...what on earth do you mean by "too sexually mature?"

As in, think about it. Exactly why do we make such a big deal about sex?
